Re: EJ AWD Dual Range 5mt Swap
Drop me your email by pm mate and I'll put a shout out on the UK legacy forum and put anyone who has one in touch. If international shipping is a problem you'd be welcome to get it sent to my work and I could arrange shipping to the states if you're happy to cover the cost, we have accounts set up w...

Re: Josh2109's '95 BJ Legacy Wagon 2.0 DL - EJ20G swap
Just a quick one! I managed to snatch an hour or so at the barn last night, I was desperate to know if the Forester cross member and ARB would fit... http://i1128.photobucket.com/albums/m481/jjmartin349571/9B8A00F5-0F05-4DC7-B8AA-8F120F8C498B_zpsukmc0d8c.jpg Result! Re: Josh2109's '95 BJ Legacy Wagon 2.0 DL - EJ20G swap
Time for another update! I've spent a bit more time working on this car, getting in evenings where possible and I spent most of the weekend at the barn too (my girlfriend was off at a hen do in London :-D ). As a result I've been making a bit of progress on this car, although I've been working on so...

Re: Josh2109's '92 BF Legacy Wagon 2.2 GX AWD
Small update... this car has been running as my daily and so far no problems to report. Still got a very unhappy CV joint, so must replace that at some point, but otherwise I think all I'll do with this is service it and continue to use it as a workhorse. I did have a bash at cleaning up the engine ...

Re: Josh2109's '95 BJ Legacy Wagon 2.0 DL - EJ20G swap
Is that a push button 4WD switch? like on the loyals? and, yes! get rid of that plastic baffle plate! Yep she has a push button on the gear stick for swapping between 2wd and 4wd - there is also a shifter in the centre column for switching between high and low ratio which is pretty nifty for an est...

Re: Josh2109's '95 BJ Legacy Wagon 2.0 DL - EJ20G swap
Cheers guys :) Nice progress! I've used those extractors before and they work very well! They're one of those tools where they sound too good to be true, but you take a shot anyway out of desperation  I was really pleased to find how well they work! As long as you've got room to tap them on wit...

Re: Josh2109's '95 BJ Legacy Wagon 2.0 DL
Update time :) To save lots of small posts I will condense a few visits to the barn into one post... So the first job I had was to manhandle the new engine out of the pickup truck - Easier said than done when you're by yourself and an automatic gearbox is still attached! I tried to support the gearb...

Josh2109's '92 BF Legacy Wagon 2.2 GX AWD
Seeing as I've got the project wagon I kind of needed something to scratch the itch whilst I waited for it to be completed. I also needed something cheaper to run than my day van!! Happily I found this locally, it has done 82k miles and had the best part of a years MOT on it so it was hard to say no...

Re: Josh2109's '95 BJ Legacy Wagon 2.0 DL
I always find it really trippy that there's a 'Brighton' trim level on some Legacy's as Brighton is a city about 10 miles down the road from me  The lack of a tacho is presumably going to make my wiring a bit easier... That said it would be handy to be able to see what the engine is being revve...

Josh2109's '95 BJ Legacy Wagon 2.0 DL - EJ20G swap
Hi folks, As you may have seen from my other threads I recently acquired a 1995 registered Legacy Wagon, BJ chassis and it's the 2.0 DL trim. I picked it up for the princely sum of £127.50 with a failed head gasket, and my intention was to pull the motor and replace the head gaskets. I've got two la...

Re: Swapping EJ20E for a Forester EJ20G?
So yesterday I picked up the new engine! http://i1128.photobucket.com/albums/m481/jjmartin349571/71D9B46A-4205-4852-988E-59758E8723CD_zpsspscfrsq.jpg In addition to the engine I also got the whole body loom from the Forester, plus ignition barel, ECU, intercooler and a few other bits for £200 all in...

Re: New guy from Sussex, England
Cheers guys :) Personally, I'm looking forward to seeing some pictures of this beast. Figured I should post up and say welcome over here as well. :D I'll be getting a build thread up soon hopefully, will get the pics up in there. I take it I need to PM a moderator to get a build thread going? I didn...

Re: Selectable 4wd
I can answer your first question, as the first question in my head when I put it in to 2wd was which end does it drive from... Dumping the clutch and hitting the throttle hard revealed that it runs as a FWD car in 2wd mode - I was really hoping it would drive from the rear end, but I can understand ...

Re: Swapping EJ20E for a Forester EJ20G?
Wow that's a steal of a deal. I am running that engine from a 97 jdm forester in my 91 legacy with an obd1 Sti ecu. I had to use my cars throttle body due to the different tps on the obd1 cars and modify the engine harness to have the proper plug for the tps. I also had to convert my ignition wirin...

Re: Swapping EJ20E for a Forester EJ20G?
Well I bought the EJ20G out the forester for £156 - guess I'm going to press down this route then lol. The bloke who I bought the engine from has the loom and ECU amongst some other bits so hopefully I'll be able to get a good deal on the rest of the bits needed to run the engine. The engine comes w...

Re: Selectable 4wd
On mine the 2wd/4wd changeover is operated by a button on the gear stick. hi/lo ratio is switched between using a lever behind the gear stick. http://i1128.photobucket.com/albums/m481/jjmartin349571/ABEA1208-AA72-484E-9A09-E43B45DA8413_zpsibuz4nds.jpg When the car was delivered I tested 4wd in the y...

Re: Swapping EJ20E for a Forester EJ20G?
Cheers chaps! So not quite as simple as I had hoped, but still achievable. As it stands I'm looking at about £200-300 all in for an engine, gearbox, rear diff, loom and ECU and other gubbins so I'm thinking it's probably a worthwhile project, as the car stands me at barely anything as it is and the ...

Selectable 4wd
Hi folks, Just a quick one - my Legacy has the selectable 2wd/4wd manual gearbox with high and low ratio. My question is, having owned a couple of different Japanese 4x4's I'm used to not being able to use 4wd on tarmac due to the lack of a central diff causing the transmission to wind up... Is the ...

Swapping EJ20E for a Forester EJ20G?
Hi folks, So I've picked up a Legacy wagon with a suspected head gasket failure. The plan was to repair the engine and then run the car as a reliable wagon for carting the dogs round in. But... I noticed on ebay that a chap locally is selling the EJ20G out of his JDM Forester, plus loom, ECU, interc...

New guy from Sussex, England
Hi folks, I'm Josh, thought I'd introduce myself as I've just bought myself a '95 registered BJ wagon and a bit of forum help may well be needed over the next few months no doubt - I'll get a profile for it up in due course as it is a project car  A little bit about myself then: I live in a sm...
