Mine's overengineered a bit. Must have been the German side of me that came up with it. Big brass tee with a compression fitting on one for the boost gauge and a ribbed brass hose fitting on the other two. Pretty compact as far as brass goes.

My car passed in cali with the previous owner before it was sold to me. The guy said there were "ways" of getting someone to get a car to pass. IIRC, service stations can do the test and they can step on the hose or something. It has been a really long time since that conversation, so don'...

The Triathalon had a couple of issues. First, it cost like $35 new. It was made of silverish plastic that eventually faded to crappy gray. The plastic face became scratched after I began working on cars for a hobby. The decals on the start and stop/reset buttons wore away, leaving me no way of telli...

Damn. Sorry to hear. Those blasted deer! I'll try again this year to shoot a couple. I've finally got a good autoloader. Why can't government regulate deer? They make all the school bus companies here put big blinding strobe beacons on the top of them. The Amish buggies need an orange triangle on th...

So what did you do for Earth Day?

I was at the Pine Cone gas station that I like to stop at for gas and a big honkin chocolate eclair, right between Madison and Milwaukee in a little place called Johnson Creek. I almost cried when I saw it there. It had been a long time since I had seen such a thing. So long that I had actually begu...

I just found out where the pcv valve is located tonight. Hayne's manual FTW! I'll probably check that tomorrow to see if it's working properly. I did notice that the crappy spring clamp that holds the hose on was quite weak and was half slipped off when I was messing with it this past weekend (I did...

And with a cone filter inside the engine bay, you're sucking in hot engine bay air, not the cool, dense air from outside that you want. So you may be doing alot to gain nothing, I'm afraid.

I have looked at those before and they do look quite nice. My only concern is how how long it would stay looking good. My Triathalon was beat to shit when I finally got rid of it. I wore it every day and rarely took it off because otherwise I'd lose it.

True that. That's why I do most of my work myself. I can only blame myself when I lose a caliper bolt and come to a screaching halt. Though I wish I had paid Tires Plus the $20 to rotate my tires and do a safety check two weeks earlier.

Damn, dman. Yeah, I don't trust repair shops worth a lick. Even the dealers around me are like WTF when my car shows up. If it's not a WRX, STI, or Outback, most places seem to have never heard of our cars. I've had to do a lot of searching to find what the good parts are on this forum, but here's o...

I watched a Code Monkeys episode on the history of 4:20 today. Man I wish I didn't have a test coming up. No smokey for me is like a two-bit whore not having STDs. Although I've heard it's been pretty dry here lately, so I guess I picked the right time to be away from it.

Hmmm, maybe so. I have not dicked with the motor much, as I'm scared I'll mess something up and have to drive the FOXBOX around again. I plan on degreasing the whole engine soon, but how do I keep this from happening? Like a pcv valve change or something? I mean, the whole area is quite grimey, but ...

Covered in oil... What does it mean???

So while I was changing the spark plugs and hunting for the illusive IAC valve, I came across a startling image. The whole cold side of the turbo and nearby hoses were covered in grungy assed oil. I mean caked. I've got 130,000 on the ticker and the turbo seems to put out fine, but ot does seem to m...

Don't all California Legacies have that extra emission crap in it? My car, fortunately, was originally a Pennsylvania car, so it doesn't matter. But did our cars have to have the extra crap? Check out Colorado. There were more Subarus in Boulder than fat chicks in Milwaukee, and we have a LOT of fat...
