Re: new member - crisco
I bet you're launch technique needs adjustment for this engine. The SS with stock boost and turbo will hit peak boost at 2300 rpm and peak torque at 2800 so there is no need to rev the piss out of it. Consider using the dampened WRX parts if you keep a turbo transmission. They reduce drivetrain shoc...

How the heck did you break first gear on stock boost levels, stock pressure plate and solid disc?
Convert it to an NA transmission with cheap junkyard parts.

Re: What mods needed to pass California emissions?
ciper, the sticker under my hood says: "THIS VEHICLE CONFORMS TO U.S. EPA REGUALTIONS APPLICABLE TO 1994 MODEL YEAR NEW MOTOR VEHICLES." So, does that include California? If my TW needs to be converted to CA emissions, which pin do I ground in the ecu and how do I do it? And, if the conve...

Re: Frankenbeater Version 4. Want to help me?
Last night I took my grill off and cleaned it to prepare for paint. I painted it with a few coats of flat black and when it was dry RAN THE DAMN THING OVER :( I am going to assume a 91 turbo grill is just as rare as a 91 turbo hood and that makes me sad. legacy777 Do you happen to have a picture of ...

Looking good so far. Why not take a battery powered saw to the junk yard and cut the donor sheet metal from another car so you don't have to reinvent the parts?

Re: A vacuum hose reference for EJ22Ts
I'm thinking to replace my lower hose again, this time cutting the factory hose in half to get the pill out. If I do I'll try different drill bits until I find the right size and post it here in case anyone wants to make their own pill. Yeah I don't know why they used such a big hose just to put a T...

Do you have the ABS unit from the parts car? If its the Bosch style I am interested (not the Nippon, I already have a spare). "X2 turbo style water pump $45 each any ej" There are actually two types of turbo pump. One with two nipples for turbo cars which don't have an oil cooler and one w...

New weights while I'm sitting in drivers seat in text format (easier to compare). These scales seem to have +-1 pound margin of error which can be shifted around by shaking the car. With battery in standard location LF 916 .... F 57.9 .... RF 960 LS 48.4 .. W 49.8 .. RS 51.6 LR 618 .... R 42.1 .... ...

Re: Frankenbeater Version 4. Want to help me?
Progress of the last few days: Rekeyed a replacement drivers side lock cylinder. The original was broken so I had to enter the car from the passenger side. I also made a brand new key from scratch using a cut off wheel since the only key I had was worn out. Upper coolant line to turbo starting leaki...

Replaced the hose that goes from the top rear of the coolant tank to the top metal line on the turbo. Part 80395cs is similar but without all the seemingly unnecessary bends

CODES CLEARED I waited for the fans to run, turned off car, connected both connectors then followed the steps here http://legacycentral.org/library/literature/codes.htm When I first started it was flashing 6 6 6 and once I started driving the light flashed exactly once every second. Re: I used corner weighing scales on my 91ss
Is this your own scale? I think these are a good investment. From the shop. They are cool but often cost $1-2k. Even though they are aluminum it is difficult to carry more than two at a time since they are so heavy. If you go for wired units it is cheaper but the wireless ones I used are about 1600...

Re: ECU always storing a code for every sensor. No CEL. Conf
I have tried various methods BUT for completeness I am going to try each of your suggestions now. Yes after running the car for a while I have the same codes stored. According to the emissions sticker it is a California car. If this can't do it I'm going to cut that California wire. To clear it with...

Re: What mods needed to pass California emissions?
1 and 2: The sticker under your hood will say if it was built for Federal or California emissions. Either one can be tested and passed in California because during the smog test this is a question the machine asks. You can convert your car to California spec by grounding one pin on the ECU. 3. Anyth...

Yep absolutely certain. Keeps it from overboosting in fifth gear.
I am not 100% sure on the part number though.
Why, did you already throw away your pill?

Or make it easier and grab any LSD regardless of its origin and ratio, then swap the carrier into your current differential housing.

Re: I used corner weighing scales on my 91ss
I did factor in my weight when deciding on the optimal battery location.
If I get some free time Ill try to disconnect the battery and put it in that spot and weigh the car while sitting in the drivers seat.

Re: what type of oil do u use
You want the thinnest oil you can get, that will still get the right pressure at all RPM. I go by the rule of 10 psi per 800 rpm with a starting point of 15psi or so at idle. That adds up to 90psi at 6k rpm. Higher pressure is not automatically better because high pressure means restricted flow. Oil...
