Make sure you order the sparco kidney supports while your at it. They are pretty cheap and if you can get past the fact that you will have mismatched brands they really help when goin' slideways. Also, with the Forza you sit down alot lower than with the stock seat, so driving position and angle all...

All the concern about cam adjustment is becoming less important due to almost every manufacturer offering variable valve timing. A hydraulically operated cam gear in the new K-series Honda engines (RSX-type S) can vary intake timing as much as 50 degrees either advanced or retarded. Not to say that ...

I did think about pulling a set of rear AWD hubs, but ended up getting stuck in this mess. I suppose it would be possible to do this in the future if I wanted to. The ride height looks normal now with the redone rear fenders and the whole car sits flat with respect to rake, and I still kept the trav...

FWD with AGX
Allright…for better or worse here’s the story. I don’t know if there is anybody else out here who has done this setup (probably are) but I just finished working out the bugs and thought if there was anybody else interested in the process they might learn something from my struggles. First let me say...

Grant - Thought there might be some other options for your seat quest. Try http://racing-seats-usa.com as they have Sparco and Corbeau seats. It is also a bonus that they have free shipping on seats. A while back I bought the Corbeau Forza with mounting bracket for $300. I like the seat, though it n...

Josh, I'm running the same engine with 120k miles. I use the NGK V-Power plugs and last time I checked them (during a compression test) they had just a very light tan color to them. All cylinders are the same color. I have a few engine mods (more suspension mods than anything else) and I consider my...

NA headers for ~US$ 98.00? Either the currency conversion is off or the quality is terrible. Of course I could be wrong and this is the deal of the decade for the NA guys. You might think that with prices like this and even a semi-decent product, somebody would have tried them before. I'd be a littl...

Perhaps we might be better able to help you if we knew exactly what you are shooting for. Are you building up a big turbo, displacment increase or something else? I would hazard that the stock injectors would probably be sufficient for most applications (provided the fuel system behind them is good ...

Thank you for the scanned diagram. Low vaccum probably explains the oil in the hoses. I guess other than introducing a lean condition (the extent of which is probably pretty minor, though still existant) the breather setup should not cause too many probs. I'll plumb it back to the intake just to be ...

Just thought of something else. I can't exactly remember the routing of the original plumbing, but I think the valve cover hoses connected to the intake before the TB. Under closed throttle conditions when the PCV valve is active, would the engine be pulling fresh metered air through the valve cover...

Hmmm...not sure exactly what you mean ciper, though I can say that I have taken into account all the vaccum routing and carefully capped or removed all extra inlets no longer used by the hoses. No extra air is being introduced after the MAF (wouldn't want to confuse the ECU). The breathers for the v...

Built it.
So I finished building an oil separator and replumbing the breathers for the valve covers. Of course, I don't have any pictures of this yet, so in reality this post is of little value. Yet I will at least describe the parts used so that if any others want to undertake this you will have some initial...

Your question has a few (a lot) of variables. First and formost when considering the life of a transmission is the way it was treated and the amount of maintence it recived over it's lifetime. Given a well cared for and non-abused subaru tranny, 200k is easily reachable. That being said one would ex...

PCV oil separator - build it?
After searching I found this topic has not been brought up in while, so I thought I might pose some more questions, facts and theories (my opinions of course). In the process of cleaning the engine bay, and doing away with unneccsary items (saving weight) I came across the PCV system. Subaru’s syste...

Thank you Jason and Josh. The text pic is correct yet probably not too helpful for those who haven't seen the actual mount. Also the lower trans mount is only two plates connected with a rubber insert, though the method for its modification is exactly the same. Good call on the different mounts. I w...

Thought some of you mechanical types out there might like to give this a try. After getting the idea from a miata webpage I decided to make my own stiffer motor and trans mounts. I reused my old mounts in this process and the old mounts were in pretty good shape. I did this while I was rebuilding th...

ECU Code - Constant flash?
Checking the ECU codes (thanks Josh for your website's excellent description) my CEL flashes constant short flashes. No breaks or long lights just short flashes. I searched and was unable to track down this particular cryptic ECU code. Can anyone enlighten me as to what this means?
