Re: FS or part-out: Atlanta, GA : 94 AWD N/A 4EAT wagon

Car is sold. What remains: - set of four 16" Impreza Outback Sport 5-star wheels (erroneously thought they were WRX), with good Yokohama AS530 tires on them. Worn flat and straight, in great shape. 5/32-6/32" tread depth all around. These wheels/tires: http://www.gunnerspond.info/green3.jp...

Re: A/C sometimes clicks itself silly

sorry to revive a 'wicked old thread dude' Jeff - Glad to hear things worked out.... glad I could be of help as it stumped me for a while. Of course, if I didn't have to perform ninja magic to get to that evap switch which is so hard to access, it would've been mo' betta' Chris - that is interesting...

Re: Starter Solenoid on way out?

So here I am, reviving an old thread because I wanted to close it out. My cranking issues have gone in and out over the past two years, on both cars. Mainly, it never happened. Once out of a few hundred cranks. Anyways, my 94 started developing a delay between when the key would get to the full cran...

Re: anyone ever "replaced" the wagon rear quarter panel?

thanks rallyak, that's pretty much exactly what I was looking for. I'll try to post a pic later of the damage. At the moment, everything is functional, except the fuel filler door latch of course. But it can open and close manually no problem, so it's just fugly and not functionally degraded. I've g...

anyone ever "replaced" the wagon rear quarter panel?

I really destroyed my own wagon the other day. Worst of all, I dented my own truck in doing so. I'm so pissed, and it was all my fault. My nearly pristine 94 wagon is now seriously tarnished. It is FUGLY on that corner now. And it's the right side, so the gas filler door won't latch either and is ju...

Re: Standard size aftermarket ej22t pistons?

yeah, coating forged pistons on the newer Leggys and WRXs is good to make up for any gap dimension that is too large, as well as to help with the piston slap sound that the forged pistons seem to lead to. Out-of-round and taper seem to be the problem with high mileage EJs, maybe the turbo's beat up ...

Re: My 91's erratic idle help!!

Running premium is not only a huge waste of money at the pump, it's not good for the motor either. There is no need to run it in an EJ22E. The compression ratio is not high enough to effectively keep burning it, and the motor/ECU will keep trying to burn it. Unless you're at absolute sea level, have...

Re: Leak from oil filler neck...part number?

Yeah, generally the o-ring at the filler neck leaks.... replace it and use some silicone and it's good to go.

If your filler neck cracked due to someone tightening the bolts too much, then replace the filler neck. I have a spare filler neck I think from the 90-94.... will sell cheap

Re: T-stat on its way out?

Yeah, pull the blower motor out and clean it all out. You will be able to see the evap core from there too after the blower motor is out. Make sure that your drain hose coming from the bottom of the evap box is not clogged (this comes through the firewall and drops to the ground).... if a varmint tr...

Re: A radiator upgrade for the 90-94 non-turbo Legacies

awesome information Josh, thanks! I will certainly keep that in mind because, as you know down south we need all the cooling we can get. that's a great option to have a newer model available, and with a thicker core. As for the AT cooler lines, I ended up using a 90 deg plastic elbow, and clamping h...

Re: For the people that ask about A/C relay location .....

Heh. Yeah, the AC Cut Relay is easy to get to with the glovebox out, one bolt holds the little bracket it's mounted to, and unplug the wire connector. The evap thermo switch is also easy to get to as it just slides onto a little plastic piece on top of the evap box. However, since the 2 wires run do...

Do you have a rear sway bar too already (the L wagons didnt have them)? I have two that I need to get rid of, one 90-91 style with the drop links, and one 97 Outback unit.

Re: A/C still won't cool after new TXV and compressor

Could be the evap thermo switch or the A/C cut relay. Also check to make sure the A/C fan will run when the compressor gets kicked on with MAX A/C and full blast on the blower. Dang, if you had the whole system apart why didn't you convert to R134a ? Is R-12 still affordable up there, cause down her...

Re: A/C sometimes clicks itself silly

FYI... just to update an old post. I finally fixed the A/C on this 93 car, seems like once and for all. It definitely was the evaporator thermostatic switch. I grabbed a switch from the junkyard and spliced it in to the car, luckily able to get the job done without having to raise or remove the enti...

I think yes, go look at the sticky thread for the compilation of a ton of suspension info.

But, I think the spring rates from the WRX sedan are a lot lower than the 1st Gen wagon.

Also, I've found WD40 to be great at cleaning out and lubricating electrical connectors. Just a quick spray then wipe it out and blast with compressed air to make sure all the pins or spades are clean and dry.

Re: Acts like it is running out of gas

I would replace the spark plugs first, that's an $8-10 thing. Even if they look decent, one might be fouled although I would think it would throw a CEL. Reset your ECU all the way, start fresh on that. $0. Cleaned your MAF? What did you use to clean it... 1400 psi is still a lot when it comes to sma...
