It depends if you think an additional $120 for the patch harness is viable

Or if that would mess up the timing, could one not simply run the outputs for cyl's 1&2 and 3&4 to their respective inputs on the wasted spark coil?
Electrically, no. That would not work.

Re: Rob's 4to2 Igntion Converter
Rob, random question. pin 10 and 9 are 180deg out of phase on the EJ22t ECU and pin 8 and 7 are unused, and on the EJ20g ECU all 4 pins are 90deg out of phase from each other. so if I put pin 9 in to the pin 8 spot and leave pins 9 and 7 unused I should get 2 signals at 180deg out of phase from eac...

Rob's 4to2 Igntion Converter
As some of you know from my other threads ( HERE and HERE ), I have been working on a way to easily adapt the 4 channel direct fire igntion of the EJ20G ECU to work with the stock 2 channel waste spark ignition of the EJ22T. The purpose of this is to make it possible to swap out the stock EJ22T ECU ...

Re: Adapting an EJ20G ECU
Florin did a test fit on both his EJ22T and EJ25D heads. From the pictures, it looks like it *might* be possible for them to work on the EJ22T heads, but it would depend on if they are long enough to seat on the spark plug and some sort of custom hold down bracket would have to be made. For the EJ25...

Re: Adapting an EJ20G ECU
I have updated the igntion section. I was asked a very basic question that I had not considered.....will the COP coils actually fit in the EJ22T heads? I have no idea :) So option 1 of the ignition change over is on hold until this can be verified. Anybody with experience want to add their thoughts?...

Thanks Josh. I found what I was looking for in another thread. BSOD2006 had posted his evoscan config file. So far it has confirmed a couple of my early edumacted guesses.

its a awesome ecu and tune. ive got nothing but good things to say about rob and his tune. Thanks for the nice comments guys. Have fun with the Hydra. From my experience, you will find tuning a MAP based system a lot more...um..."enteraining" than tuning for a MAF system. I certainly don'...

Yes I do, stock EJ22T, front mount, sti turbo, 550 injectors, Apexi intake, Greddy EBC, 3" exhaust (going to up-grade to Invidia g200 turbo back soon) and a bunch of other things. So far so good. Only "issues" (if u wanna call it that) is when u start the car the idle will jump around...

Re: Adapting an EJ20G ECU
Indeed I do have a spare EJ20G ECU.
As for fitting the ECU, I will post pictures how I did it. Basically I used the top half of the G case and the bottom half of the 22T case.

Re: kimokalihi's 91 SS EJ20 Swap
The fact that you have the weird Forester version has me a little unsure. My guess is that any G motor will work as is with any G heads. I suggest posting in the pre-2002 section on Nasioc. Marnix will know the answer.

Re: kimokalihi's 91 SS EJ20 Swap
Yes if it was the FPR having trouble intermittently is would affect all cylinders. Maybe #2 was runs the hottest? Perhaps the pitting of the piston was there before you got the car and this detonation resulted in a cracked ring land instead? I would have thought you would have seem more evidence on ...

Re: kimokalihi's 91 SS EJ20 Swap
Yes Kimo, that is the correct MAF. I was a little concerned because the picture on page 1 was from the mutant late model Forester ej20g. Josh, the reason I would still look at fueling is that Kimo describes having "fuel cut" issues. The fact that I know his ECU is set to only cut at 18psi,...

Re: kimokalihi's 91 SS EJ20 Swap
Just from how you describe it, I don't think you were hitting overboost fuel cut. It sounds more to me like an intermittent fuel delivery problem. I would investigate your fuel pump wiring to see if you can find any suspect connections and or something in your tank/lines that was blocking your flow....

Re: kimokalihi's 91 SS EJ20 Swap
Is it the same MAF that you have pictured at the beginning of the thread? The ECU doesn't modify fueling when it's in open loop mode, so it wouldn't be able to compensate the WOT AFRs. On my tune you should see WOT AFRs around 11.1. !2:1 is nearly a point leaner. That may not be the smoking gun, but...

Re: kimokalihi's 91 SS EJ20 Swap
Hey Kimo,
Terrible news on your motor! What have your AFRs looked liked over the past couple months? Perhaps the boost line to your FPR started leaking or came off entirely? Did you ever install your FCD?
