Looks like I've got something lined up that will work (thanks Todd).
Thanks

Re: WTB 4.111 5 speed tranny (non-turbo)
Oh sorry - I'm in Portland, OR. Anything in western OR/WA would be fine. Otherwise shipping may kill the deal. I can get one local for about $500 from the yards but I would prefer to give my money to a member, etc and possibly save a little. I'll edit my post to include location.

WTB 4.111 5 speed tranny (non-turbo)
Looking for one for a '96 OBW - anything with a 4.111 final drive will work. Early Forester, Impreza 2.5RS... heck I could even make a '90 to '94 work if it was the right price. Anywhere in western OR/WA I can pickup. Outside of that.... shipping may kill the benefits of not buying from a local yard...

'97 Legacy Outback - reconditioned by GD **Sale Pending**
http://home.comcast.net/~trilinear/97OBW2.jpg (It's Forest Green despite the dark appearance in the picture) I have here a very nice '97 OBW - loved by just one previous owner - an older couple just a few miles from me. Clean, Automatic, 169k, regularly maintained by a local garage, and a clean and...

Re: who built a ej22e turbo
will any subaru manual trasmision work in my 92 legacy You have to use a non-turbo transmission or you get into a lot more work swapping over to a hydraulic pedal/MC setup... Anything up to '97 and some '98s will work easily - even the hydraulic non-turbo transmissions can be switched over to cable...

I appreciate the offer but I think frieght charges would kill me from VT. It would have to be banded to a pallet and I'm sure the shipping would be more than the tranny is worth leaving little room to negotiate compensation on your end. Plus I would need to source a 4.11 diff locally and that would ...

WTB: AWD 5 speed (90 to 97 cable clutch) needed ASAP! OR/WA
I'm in need of an AWD 5 speed for a 96 "L" Sedan. It's a 3.9 car but if you have something else and the price is right or I can get the matching diff then I can work around that. I already installed one from a 91 Legacy only to find that it's bad as well. So the exhaust mounting difference...

Efficiency drops off after about 1 bar. The lower the efficiency, the more heat is generated. Basically the compressor wheel is small - so to push high pressure it has to spin quite fast. Around 130,000 to 160,000 RPM for pressure's above 1.5 bar. The result is high temperatures. This WILL shorten t...

Yeah - you probably will want different heads to make that kind of power *easily*. Proper tuning can do wonders though and forced induction makes a lot of port flow issues a bit less significant. And the more CFM you can flow at low pressure the better (to a point ) I'm not knocking any of the...

Have a look at my post again: http://bbs.legacycentral.org/viewtopic.php?t=37735 Someone with a brain was kind enough to include a proper picture of the way they modified the silicone y-pipe, and the information on which one to use. He also observed that it is wiser to use the 02-05 silicone y-pipe'...

Thank you for answering my question and the picture is very helpful. I do understand the need to search and I've had the IC and the turbo for over 6 months. I think a TD05-16g would be better suited to making the power you want. That 14b is sized for a 2.0 running 12 psi and making 210 crank HP. It's going to have a hard time pushing enough CFM to pull you up to 275 wheel HP (over 300 crank HP) on a 2.2. Doing all that work then finding out you have to ...

Yeah - after looking at the compressor map, that actually is a decent sized turbo. But the extra work in the custom exhaust and external wastegate make it not very attractive. Even at ~$240..... you can get a TD04 or even a TD05 if you shop around for $300 or less that will bolt straight on with onl...

Re: DSM turbo with welded wastgate - TD05 H 14b
is it possible to pick up the dsm turbo and simply mix - match the casting side from the stock turbo i have now ? No. By "cast-off" I mean a TD04 that someone is getting rid of. There is nothing useful about that DSM turbo. Look at some pictures of them on ebay or something. They are enti...

Re: DSM turbo with welded wastgate - TD05 H 14b
- how difficult is it to mach up a gasket and mounting brackt for this turbo for the 22T piping ? VERY difficult. It's not a matter of gaskets - it's a matter of totally custom exhaust flanges. The Mitsi TD turbo's you want are ones made for Subaru's. Ones made for DSM's have the wrong housing cast...
