Couple of engine issues, trying to solve

Hi, my 94 legacy N/A recently feels like it is misfiring on the freeway when/if I turn the AC on, under light throttle, going maybe 75mph. The second thing is that sometime slowing down for a stoplight or stop sign I put it into neutral and the revs hang at ~2000 rpm, and stays there hanging until I...

Correct tire pressure?

Have been going off what Subaru put in the drivers side door jam, but I have 205/55/16 tires. Should I run something more than 32psi? Since the tire is lower profile than stock...

Emergency Brake not working

Recently, the button on my emergency brake popped out, looks like some plastic tab broke off or something. I see the spring in the handle and when I lift it the brake is applied. The handle just wont stay up. So I just always leave it in first as my parking brake, but parking on hills isn't good.. A...

Re: 1990 Legacy Wagon Gear Whine (how much is too much?)

I had really loud gear whine that became much much less after a fluid change. Just got the basic stuff from Kragen. Anything was better than the old stuff in there.

Re: Towing...how much have you towed and how far?

My current tow vehicle is my beater, a 88 GL with a bad head gasket. If that can tow the ~900lb load your vehicle (99 OBS) shouldnt have much problem with a light load. Just dont hook up a 4000lb double axel and put three cars on it. Good to know, I am thinking of buying a dirt bike, would have to ...

Re: Car not starting, help please!

Contacts looked pretty worn, had a very dark tinge to them of worn copper, and white corrosion spots, after the wire brush they looked way better

Re: Car not starting, help please!

took the starter off today, openeded it up and cleaned the solenoid contacts with a wire brush. Also cleaned all the other electrical contacts I could find. Autozone doesn't supply solenoid contacts, but they tested my starter and say its good. Soooo put the starter back in (the bottom bolt is kind ...

Re: Car not starting, help please!

Decided I want to try and replace the ignition switch, but when researching repair guides on this it says I am going to have to remove shear bolts. Any good way to do this? If this doesn't work will try solenoid contacts, or just replace starter.

car has 230,000 miles, and when it does start it starts up immediately, no hesitation at all. I will check the ignition switch and get back to you. Thanks for the suggestions! :-)

Car not starting, help please!

Recently my 2.2 N/A is not starting for me. I try to turn it on and the engine wont even try to turn over. Then I come back to the car an hour later and it fires right up, no hesitation. The battery is about 6 months old. Cant hear the starter clicking like when I had a bad battery. Anyone know what...

I was just going off what it said in the manual saying that 5w30 is only for extreme cold and older engines could use a heavier oil. Just look in the manual.
