Re: wtf? Wonky electrical problem
Wow, tremendous effort D. Thank you. Lots of information there. As the underdash is already exposed and I have jiggled the connectors quite a bit I am leaning toward another solution. You mentioned connectors being in a death spiral. Just to split hairs does that mean that electrical connectors can ...

Re: wtf? Wonky electrical problem
Thanks for the help. I believe that these two diagrams should be what I need: http://surrealmirage.com/subaru/files/swap/6-3_power_supply_routing2.jpg http://surrealmirage.com/subaru/files/swap/6-3_power_supply_routing1.jpg Only real problem is this is my 1st shot reading wiring diag's and it sorta ...

Re: wtf? Wonky electrical problem
Thanks D for the reply. Very good info in that. Didn't get a chance to check any connectors, but did do a quick check to make sure all sbf's were seated well. New wrinkle popped up its head tonight. Now auto shoulderbelts have stopped working. Briefly had power windows and power in sun roof, along w...

wtf? Wonky electrical problem
The 1st part of the problem started about a month or 2 ago, and I assumed it was the radio getting old. When the wipers were being used the radio volume would drop, then build up again, then drop again when wipers engaged. Then the radio went out altogether, sometimes from using the wipers. I figure...

4eat go boom?
I'm at a traffic circle, waiting to go, and once it's clear and I start to go I get this huge wump 3 times, as if I hit something. Car won't go anywhere. Shift back and forth b/w r and d and nothing, both w/manual button engaged and not, nothing in all drive gears, l to h. Sometimes the 3 wumps happ...

Re: Everything dies midcrank - all dash lights out
All good suggestions, but panic @ the disco is over for now. Just plain lame battery. I've never had one die so completely before in mid-crank so threw me for a loop. Guy that jumped me had smart jumper cables which you don't even have to use color-coded wise. Hook 'em up anyway and they work. Seems...

Everything dies midcrank - all dash lights out
Ok, so my car was sitting for about 2 wks. in the winter cold because I made the unfortunate decision to try and change the tps during the winter w/o a heated garage. Yeah, turns out pvc and cold don't mix, so I had to wait for a warm day to cobble the broken pvc tubing together and reinstall. I hav...

Re: Magnetic Oil Filter Band?
Ooooold thread, this I know. No disrespect to vrg3, who is very knowledgeable, but there must be @ least some ferromagnetic components in a Subie engine. For those who wish to experiment w/the concept this might be an option: http://www.allelectronics.com/make-a-store/item/MAG-74/0.105-X-0.2-X-0.4-N...

02 readings all over the place, super-crappy mileage
In this post: http://bbs.legacycentral.org/viewtopic.php?t=552 Morgie says "if you have a volt meter you can test the O2 sensor wire while driving. At closed loop your readings will fluctuate between .01 and 1 volt. When in open loop, your reading should stay ALOT steadier . . . maybe within .0...

Hot oil is best
ok, in reply to this thread even though it's mega-old. Yes, dropping the hot oil is best, as der Fahrer says: "Hot oil drains faster and more efficiently. I only change my oil after it's been running." . Talk to any old timer and they'll tell you never use an engine flush before dropping y...

Yup, the oem thermostat is the way to go. I just had to replace my autozone or whatever it was w/an oem, part # 21200aa072, which supercedes the aa070 and aa071. The difference in appearance b/w the two(oem vs. non) is exactly as pictured above (thanks forestpearl). If u look at the oem on the left,...

Yeah, I saw those blue connectors 2 when I was down there. Mine weren't connected, but a 93' @ the junkies was so I connected them. what they might be ihnc. As far as cel i think u hit it. Change the bulb, then you'll be able to read codes. When i do codes something clicks by the ecu w/the key on as...

I watch my mileage like a hawk 'cause it's crap! Always has been since I got the car, 94 ej22t wagon, and recently it's sunk to about 12. It's fun watching the needle drop on just short local cruises - not! Trying to diagnose, but leaning toward vacuum or wastegate problems. For reference sake on ju...

No cel because I'm using vrg3's stand-alone scan tool. The tool connects directly to the ecu and reads/displays ecu output and codes. I have to scroll through codes while jacking up rpm's to see if there's any active trouble codes, which may be, but there are no stored codes that I know of. As I und...

Request Help: Boost bleed @ 80%
I'm a relative newbie to this forum, so I don't know what to do with this problem, or even what it's really about. 94" turbo legacy wagon, ej22t, with super poor gas mileage. Just replaced the o2 sensor, which seemed to be oem and unchanged, in the hopes that it would get better. Didn't. Owned ...

A long overdue thanks to Vikash! I bought my tool from him about 3 months ago and love it! While there seem to be a few small problems here and there (more about the limitations of 1st gen ecu's and juice boxes themselves) it works just like in the pix and I absolutely would not trade it for the wor...
