Other injectors to replace gray tops in 1990 4EAT?
I have ongoing problems with injectors in this car. Last winter, I managed to find a decent set of used ones and they worked fine until the other day, when I lost one injector, yet again. Same old symptom, Check Engine light on, running on 3 cylinders, plenty of spark to the cylinder that isn't work...

1990 2.2 automatic injectors
I have some bad injectors (have not checked them individually yet) but the leak is so bad somewhere that the engine will not turn over sometimes. It tries to turn and stops. I first thought the starter was bad so I replaced it and still have the same issue. I haven't been driving the car lately beca...

speedo gear and trans codes
Thanks, wtdash. I will search for codes and see what I can figure out. I replaced the intermediate speedo drive unit that threads into the top of the case (it had seized and snapped in 2) and pulled the cable, cleaned, lubed and reinstalled. The speedo works when I attach my cordless drill chuck to ...

Ciper, Thank you for the suggestion! I am going to do that, and I am embarrassed to admit that I did think of it, but somehow had the idea that I had to have all 4 wheels off the ground at the same time. (Yes, this is my first AWD car...) My recent history includes several warnings for speeding (tho...

1990 Legacy 4EAT Power light flashes 16 times on start
So, I lost the speedometer function in my car the other day, and it looks as if there is a problem inside the trans, as everything external seems good. I don't relish the thought of pulling this trans and tearing it down to fix the gear, but now I am getting 16 flashes of the "Power" light...

Thanks to you both for your suggestions. Actually, I did connect a drill to the speedometer cable to be sure that the speedometer is working. I had removed the speedometer/cluster at the outset, thinking it was a problem there, cleaned and lubed the cable, but alas... The speedometer works fine when...

1990 speedometer gear in 4EAT transmission
I had the often discussed speedometer cable drive that screws into the transmission fail on my car. I got one from a parts car and installed/reinstalled it several times but can't get my speedometer to work. Just wondering if anyone has had the speedometer drive gear fail that is inside the transmis...

Thanks, Josh
I appreciate the welcome. Your car looks fantastic! Mine is essentially just a winter driver, and its appearance reflects that. I got it from a friend, who gave up on it because it needed too much work. I dealt with all the issues pending at the time and have driven it maybe 600 miles. Today, howeve...

1990 Legacy starter, early production vs. late
I have a car made in January 1990, so it's clearly an early production example. I'm having a problem with the starter where it will start to turn (so we are getting beyond the "click" stage) and then stop. And when I say it starts to turn, I am really saying the motor will make a little mo...
