Re: Re-built 5MT vs. 6MT wap
Torque split depends on which year it's out of. Some are 35:65 (04-05 usdm?), newer ones are 41:59. I think the 5-speed dccd boxes might be 45:55. I think it's all listed in the rallispec trans chart: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2173258 DCCD basically works by adding lockup whe...

Throttle Position Sensor and Backfiring
My car is backfiring at every shift over 3,000RPM and throwing a code 42 all of the time. Testing the throttle position sensor showed it was bad, and I removed it entirely to drive over to the junkyard to get a new (used) TPS. Strangely enough, the backfiring went away completely and the car ran gre...

Re: K-Sport Gravel Rally Coilovers
I don't know a darn thing about changing an engine's power output via changing the cams, but I thought that changes of that sort also required changes in the ECU which we can't do easily because of ODB1? Or are you saying with new cams the engine magically creates more torque or HP? How much increas...

My '93 also had "starter" issues, and replacing the starter motor did nothing. The problem only went away after a new ignition switch was installed, the equivalent of installing a push button.

Re: Re-built 5MT vs. 6MT wap
I found an online site with a calculator. With 15" tires and assuming the car is 6,000 rpm for each shift here's the speed at a the shift points: Gear, Stock 5MT, PPG 5MT, RA 5MT, 6MT 1st: 18, 21, 21, 19 2nd: 33, 35, 32, 29 3rd: 48, 50, 42, 39 4th: 67, 68, 57, 51 The MPH span of each gear is an...

Re: Re-built 5MT vs. 6MT wap
That's a good point: I've ridden in a 2.5RS with PPG gears at a rallyx and the ratios were perfect. The RA set is close, and so I assume it would also work. The longer 1st gear and shorter 2nd are perfect for optimizing the amount of power from a smaller engine. The STi's do very well at rallyx, so ...

Re-built 5MT vs. 6MT wap
In 4 years of rallycrossing I've been through 3 phase 1 transmissions, and am tired of replacing them. The latest transmission only has a few races on it and is already starting to go, so I want to invest in something that won't require yet another weekend spent under the car in a year. One option i...

- 185 tires (195 is way too big, ideally 175, but hard to find in that size) - $2-3k suspension of some sort - GrpN 4 pot brakes in the front, stock turbo legacy vented rears. GOOD pads on both. Proportioning valve or balance bar for sure - Proper Differentials. I have Cusco 1.5 way front and rear ...

Display fuel pressure inside cockpit
I'm having weird fuel issues during rallyx and thought an inside-cabin fuel pressure gauge could help. I've been searching for an hour and can't seem to find anything but fuel pressure gauges that go inside the inside bay, which isn't a help during a race. The only time I've got what seems to be fue...

Re: 6spd Swap Details Thread
Thanks for documenting this! How can you use the stock legacy rear diff when the stock is 4.11 final drive ratio and the 6MT is 4.44? Anyway, I'm to decide between installing an LSD and stronger center diff into a 5MT or just buying a 6MT. The target application is rallyx and maybe stage rally in th...

Re: poor mans dccd, the 5mt center diff locker thread
My conclusion after all that? Don't fuck about and go straight to DCCD. Stock shaft, stock linkages, and designed to be tough enough to be used on tarmac. I'm running my car with the DCCD Pro UNI controller, Cusco front diff and KAAZ rear diff. Awesome setup. I'm familiar with the Cusco-- you just ...

I've seen a lot of 5-speed DCCD's pop up for sale. They are usually snagged up really quickly. Czei, what legacy are you rallying? Where at? Re: Center diff questions:
Czei, we're talking about the 5-speed here. Although, a friend of mine came across a deal for a 6-speed sti tranny for $1000. The catch? The dccd was permanently set to full lock. So for the price of a 6Mt dccd center you could own a sweet tranny. Interesting... I've never heard of a 5-speed DCCD. ...

Re: Center diff questions:
I paid 1200 for my V4 STi-RA transmission with the DCCD. That price also included the computer, full car body harness, driveline, and the R180 4.44 Mechanical LSD. That's really cheap from everything I've seen advertised. The going rate I've seen for what you've described is around $4K, and that's ...

FYI-A phase 1 complete center diff, and housing will work on a phase 2 transmission/gears. This also works with phase 2 center/housing and a phase 1 transmission case and gears. It only works with the complete center diff and matching housing. I have done this twice now with no ill results. I do ha...

Completely removing molding?
I'm working on my rallyx car in the off season and am thinking about removing the side/door molding. Has anyone done it? The main problem is the holes where the clips hold the molding in. I supposed the hikes could be filled and painted, but I'm going for a rat rod look and will be rusting out the e...

Thanks for all the replies, what I think I will do is bypass the purge valve and use the vacuum line from the top of the throttle body with the NA canister. only more question about the canisters- what does the third line on the turbo canister do? I've been looking at the diagrams and can't figure ...

haha yea.... my old fuel tank rotted out and I replaced it with an aluminum fuel cell, but one of the screws for the fuel level sender leaks a tiny bit, and if the tank gets pressurized it leaks a lot. so I took the seal out of the gas cap until I can drop the tank to repair it properly. It doesn't...

I wonder how much cash they spent on the gramps build so far? On top of all of the new parts it looks to be weeks of custom work getting the H6 fitted into the body and then for a turbo.

Re: What year LSD will fit '91 Legacy L?
Does it matter what transmission the rear LSD is paired with as long as the final drive is the same? My center diff just blew after the last race, and I'm trying to figure out what went wrong. The car has a '94 ohase one transmission paired with a 2001 rear 4.11 LSD and matching axels.
