Re: ESL Board for USDM 1st Gen Turbo Legacies

Do you need the 4-to-2 converter to run this option with the EJ20g ECU?

Re: Dead Robtune ECU, can I use stock EJ22t ECU?

Yep, Rob got a hold of me, I sent him a few pictures of the top and bottom of the board and am awaiting his response for next steps.

I used my Galaxy S6 to take the pics.

Re: Dead Robtune ECU, can I use stock EJ22t ECU?

Last night when I pulled the chip to test, all of the pins on the EEPROM looked fine, as well as the socket. The socket itself may be the problem though. After close inspection, it looks like one of the pins for the socket doesn't actually go through the board: http://i1192.photobucket.com/albums/aa...

Re: Dead Robtune ECU, can I use stock EJ22t ECU?

Well, I couldn't wait. I removed the Robtune EEPROM, re-jumped J1, plugged in the ECU, and it fired right up. Just to check, I removed the J1 jumper, re-socketed the Robtune EEPROM, plugged in the ECU, and no start.

Sounds like a bad Robtune chip then?

One other thing: I don't have a chip extractor, is the next best thing being really careful with a flathead jewelers screwdriver, or is there a better way?

How did you get a hold of Rob? I've emailed him a few times this week with no answer?

Re: Dead Robtune ECU, can I use stock EJ22t ECU?

Is there supposed to be a resistor here, or can I just connect the two ends of J1?

Image

If I need a resistor, do you know the value of it so I can try to get one?

Thanks again,

Re: Dead Robtune ECU, can I use stock EJ22t ECU?

If your car works as normal, then the robtune is bad. If the fuel pump still doesn't prime, then the ej20g ecu is bad. Hopefully it's the ecu. While the ej22t ecu can run your setup on low boost, it'll run poorly and super rich. Great, thank you for the info. I'll try today when I get home from wor...

I will have to try this tomorrow or Saturday. What will this prove/disprove performing this test?

Re: ESL Board for USDM 1st Gen Turbo Legacies

Would this be a good option for replacing a Robtune ECU? What do you need to get this working? JDM/EDM EJ22t ECU, ESL board, tuning cable and software and laptop?

Dead Robtune ECU, can I use stock EJ22t ECU?

Here's the backstory of my problem: I have a Robtune ECU that died seemingly out of the middle of nowhere. I drove it one day, parked it, then the next day I went to start the Soob, and it wouldn't start. The fuel pump doesn't prime, and there is no CEL with key on (usually the CEL lights with key o...

Re: Cylinder 4 not firing - EJ22-t

Yes, I'm running the 4-to-2 ignition converter. I'm not sure how to diagnose it though. I've given the wiring a once over real quick, but I will go through it again more thoroughly to see if I have any mistakes or loose connections. I think I'll try reaching out to Rob as well and see if he has any ...

Re: Cylinder 4 not firing - EJ22-t

The compression test is within 5 psi on each cylinder. Compression was great - ~150ish psi on each cylinder warm. I unfortunately don't have a boroscope to see if something is going on in the cylinder. Maybe I should try to find someone with one. Is there any chance this could be the Robtune ECU? Do...

Re: Cylinder 4 not firing - EJ22-t

I knew I forgot some important info in my OP. :P I have also had the injectors rebuilt once and cleaned/flow tested twice by WitchHunter. Both times they have come back good. I have also done what you suggested: all the injectors are between 11 - 11.4 ohms. I've also tried swapping injectors between...

Cylinder 4 not firing - EJ22-t

I'm not sure if this belongs here or in the electrical section, so mods, feel free to move this if needed. I have been troubleshooting this problem off and on for about a year now, and I am at a loss of what could be causing my car to not fire or miss on cylinder 4. I have tried swapping the coil pa...

Re: Codes 23, 49. EJ22T w/metal MAF. Choppy idle and misfire

I thought I'd update everyone where I'm at, in case it helps anyone in the future. After my initial fuel pressure test, I tested fuel pressure on the return line (after the FPR). The return line had ~80psi on it, it it must have been a clogged or kinked return line somewhere. I got some PTFE SS hose...

Re: Codes 23, 49. EJ22T w/metal MAF. Choppy idle and misfire

So, I finally got around to doing a fuel pressure test, and this is definitely the issue: 66 psi! So, I think I'm going to end up replacing all of my fuel lines (feed and return). Does anyone have any suggestion on what to use? Can I just use regular rubber fuel hose (MPI rated), or should I use SS ...

Re: Codes 23, 49. EJ22T w/metal MAF. Choppy idle and misfire

Ok, I finally have an update and some results. Last Wednesday, I was finally able to pick up some new plugs (NGK iridium's, I had NGK V-Power's in it before). I swapped them in, and it fired right up. Sweet! I let it idle up to operating temp, then shut it off because I had to leave. The next day (T...

Re: Codes 23, 49. EJ22T w/metal MAF. Choppy idle and misfire

Also, let me rehash my symptoms: Car will not start, but when cranking, it at least tries to fire. After cranking for a few seconds (10 seconds or less), the car is completely flooded (plugs are fuel fouled, gas in cylinders) After the rebuild, when the car ran, it ran great the first day I drove it...

Re: Codes 23, 49. EJ22T w/metal MAF. Choppy idle and misfire

I have now performed all of the diagnostic steps from the FSM for:

Control Unit Power supply and ground line
Ignition Control System
Fuel Pump Circuit
Fuel Injector Circuit (the pdf you linked to above Josh)

All tests come back within spec. I am now totally stumped.

I've swapped between two coolant temp sensors (and also tested resistance), along with swapping ECUs. I still need to work through that diagram you posted above. I'll post back when I get a chance to do that.

^Ok, thanks Josh. I will work through this diagram when I get home tonight and post values.

Do you know of any reason why it would run pig rich constantly? The plugs are fuel fouled constantly.

Re: Codes 23, 49. EJ22T w/metal MAF. Choppy idle and misfire

Sorry for the late reply, it's been the post-holiday rush! I'm running an early 90's harness. So what you're saying is there is supposed to be constant +12v between the two injector pins at the injector? If so, I misunderstood how the injectors pulse. Only one of the pins should have 12v on it. Are...
