Re: What do all these symptoms point to?

I have gone back and forth on the idea of a swap.. and due to various factors I think I am going to do a straight auto swap for now and look at getting a 5-speed wagon.

Know anyone selling a tranny?

Re: What do all these symptoms point to?

Thanks for the feedback! James614: Yes all of the cv axles were correctly fixed to the male stubs of differentials. Good thought though, that one hadn't crossed my mind. The more I thought about it, it was mainly the issue of putting it in park that led me to the same conclusion that Josh suggested....

What do all these symptoms point to?

Okay, got a tough one here. I will spell out every relevant detail I can think of and see if we get anywhere. I have thought about this over and over in my head and can't come up with an answer. I've also searched the forums but no luck. The car is a '90 LS with 135,000 miles. It is an automatic. I ...

Re: Odd Cruise Control Behavior

I'd like to bring this discussion back up to see if anyone has made progress on the issue. I have a '90 n/a that has the same symptoms except the CC will completely stop after about a minute of fluctuation. My ABS light is also on and was told these two systems failing can be due to one culprit. So ...

Re: 5 Speed Manual into Auto RHD AWD Legacy

I'm not sure of the differences that might come from this being a RHD, but check the stickies before you hit the search box. Here's a link to the drivetrain section stickies. Josh has compiled a full write-up on the swap from parts needed to pictures. Hope this helps. http://bbs.legacycentral.org/vi...

Re: Abrupt no air through vents/hvac selection?

It could be the selector motor tripping up. Before you tear the top of the dash up, go in underneath the steering wheel. Remove the main panel beneath the wheel and if you look toward the center of the dash you'll see the selector motor that is connected to a system of tracks which select the differ...

I faced similar issues but with my ej22. Have you looked back over your timing to make sure you aren't ever so slightly off?

Re: vent control buttons

I did perform the above recommendation. I soldered the contacts that looked cracked or had hairline cracks under a magnifying glass. Put most of the dash back together and no luck. So I laid under the steering wheel while changing buttons and heard my motor try to switch and would sloowwwlly wind do...

Re: turbo wagon help

You may need to clear your codes before checking your system readings again. You can look on Josh's website and follow the instructions, or I've also heard leaving your battery unplugged for several hours will do it.

Re: Timing Alignment Question

Update: Was able to figure out the alignment and turns out when going back on, my camshafts were one rotation (of the two rotation cycle) off. Lined them up, and it fired right up! I'm guessing my timing has been off for the past 10k miles (the time I've owned the car) but this fixed my hesitation a...

Timing Alignment Question

I have been digging into my engine shaking issue, and I mean a real shake at each red light, and I am starting with the timing. Went into it and found that with multiple rotations by hand, the crankshaft and two camshaft sprockets never line up correctly with their consecutive alignment marks at the...

Re: Constant CEL Code 35

Just wanted to update this for anyone who may come across the same problem. After replacing the solenoid, I still am having the code come up intermittently, but much less than the previous several months. I ran some Seafoam, have been running more quality gas (89 non eth makes for the best results, ...

Re: Constant CEL Code 35

Update: I went poking around with my meter and the sensor is reading correct ohms and the ecu is sending signal to the solenoid. I had seen on here that these models run a little better on 89 octane rating gas and went out on a hunch with a few gallons of non-ethanol 89 octane. Call me crazy, but TH...

Re: Constant CEL Code 35

Alright, so I ran the system with the green plug connected and had all of the relays cycling. The purge solenoid was clicking, and I even did blew on one end to see if it would with hold the air pressure, then release it which it did. Should I begin checking other electrical problems, or look for a ...
