Re: Need new struts
Thx, Charles! Struts are bad enough now that oscillations just roll from corner to corner; unneeded excitement on winter roads.

Re: Need new struts
Along these same lines of 90-91 vs 92-94... Are the later strut spring perches both higher or are the fronts higher and the rears lower (http://surrealmirage.com/subaru/swap/techinfo.html#suspension)? I have a 90 awd wagon that needs all new struts. If I can get a little lift solely by jumping to 92...

Re: 90 BJ intermittent electrical failure
SOLVED Fusible Link Finally got stuck in town as it wouldn't restart after cooling down. From there it was relatively simple: I just went through swapping slow-slow fuses and pulling/reinstalling fusible link. Easier to find when it wasn't working. What I have now is bent and kinked spade receptacle...

Re: 90 BJ intermittent electrical failure
On the occasions of no-start, none of the always-on circuits are getting power. IOW, if I open the door and the dome light is on, everything works as normal and it will start. If the dome light is not on, no start. That's what makes me think it may be a circuit route closer to the battery.

90 BJ intermittent electrical failure
No history on wagon as it came from at least two years in impound. Figured out the clutch was gone. Installed new clutch and it was working great. Never had any starting issues. (1)Starting to get a little smug about my cheap car and actually did a little vacuuming. Go to start it and nothing. Wasn'...

Re: HVAC controls not working all the time
This is a new-to-me 90 wagon so I don't how things are supposed to function or when they last did. Nothing was working for me: no lights on HVAC control, no fan (not even on "4"). Checked fuses to be sure and then went to it. Sure enough, nearly all of the soldered joints on the harness so...

Re: BJ Wagon - no power to wheels
Needed some space so got back to the project. Anyway, it was the clutch. Once I got into it, I could see fibers all over the place. Whole disc was ~1/4" thick and one side down to metal. It's up and running now and I've poked around enough to find next fixes: CV axle, blower, and PS pump leak. ...

Re: BJ Wagon - no power to wheels
I'm only in $400 so far so a clutch isn't too scary. I will get one on the way.

Re: BJ Wagon - no power to wheels
No, the fork doesn't move when I'm off the pedal. It seems to be the clutch and that would be the next anyway. I'm kinda under the assumption that something's wrong with the rest of the drivetrain. Can't imagine someone would dump a car because of just a clutch. Anyway, I will start there and see wh...

Re: BJ Wagon - no power to wheels
Clutch fork moves with the pedal. Boot's torn but it seems to be operational. Ran it for a bit and I can go through gears with no clutch at all RPMs. What could it be other than the clutch? If the clutch engages at all, the transaxles should turn, right?

Re: BJ Wagon - no power to wheels
There's no rotational noise when the car is running and in gear (car lifted). That makes me think the problem lies in the clutch rather than the tx or driveshaft. Sequentially, I guess I first need to determine if the clutch is engaging. Is there an easy way to do that?

Re: BJ Wagon - no power to wheels
Seems like it shifts freely. In fact, I can hear the engine unload a bit as I come off the peda in every gearl. Even if I had diff or shaft problems, my transaxles should still turn, right? Not really familiar with how the AWD works so not a very good troubleshooter in that department. Thanks for th...

BJ Wagon - no power to wheels
First post, just picked up a wagon from impound. It was towed at some point but don't know how. Driveshaft still there. Runs good, clutch feels normal, but wheels don't go 'round.
Wouldn't think a clutch would fail like this but that's what i'm thinking at the moment. Any ideas?
