Hm, on rereading my post I see that I confused which springs had a bigger difference. But still... Yes, the factory service manual lists no difference between spring rates for the turbo and naturally aspirated Legacies. Is it possible that the difference in ride height and damping between the two ca...

I thought that our front spring rates were a bit less than the WRXs while our rear ones were quite a bit higher... I seem to remember something like my car ('93 Legacy Turbo 5-speed sedan) being 134/134 and the 2002 WRX 5-speed sedan being 163/119. I have two sets of WRX springs... I was having sill...

Your ignition wires should have enough slack that they're not being pulled out of place by going under the throttle and cruise control cables. That said, it probably wouldn't hurt to route them on top if you feel like it's necessary, as long as you're careful that they don't interfere with the opera...

Wouldn't it create a temporary rich condition? The engine would be ingesting less air than the MAF reads, right? It's possible to have an atmospheric blowoff valve that doesn't result in this transient bad fuel mixture, though; you just need your ECU to know about it and correct for it. The ECU alre...

I'll second that. Install GR2s and see if you're satisfied, and if your car still doesn't perform to your requirements, you can consider springs. It's a lot quicker to swap struts when you're not swapping springs, since you can leave the springs compressed and transfer them from your old struts to y...

Hehe... It doesn't look too bad, actually. I'd recommend trying what I did, though, if you can. I'll take a picture when I have a chance; it looks decent and was cheap. Just cut the bottom two sections off your stock boot (the section with the holes and the first level that sticks above the console)...

Hm, on rereading your post, I guess I didn't respond properly to your question, since it looks like you're asking about shock/spring combinations. I don't know for sure, but I think the springs for the North American Legacy Turbo are the same as the naturally aspirated ones. The struts are stiffer a...

I'd suggest getting a set of KYB GR2s. They'll fit right in place of your OEM shocks, and are a bit stiffer than stock. I've used them in both my '97 Legacy GT and my '93 Legacy Turbo with good results, although they seemed to work a bit nicer on the GT. I think that's because the GT had stiffer spr...

Hehe, looks cool. I got a generic cheap leather shifter boot off eBay for like 12 bucks but then found no good way to mount it simply... Did you attach your boot to the little pegs underneath? I ended up getting an extra stock rubber boot from a junkyard, cutting the bottom two sections off it, and ...

Note: What follows is just my logical thinking, not backed up by any official qualifications. Even with proper fueling, I would maintain that full boost (at the manifold) at part throttle is a bad thing, and would cause high EGTs regardless. If you have full boost pressure at the manifold with the t...

I second the guess that this 2.5 liter will have little to do with the current EJ25. Subaru isn't known to mess around when turbocharging motors. The current EJ25 is essentially a bored and stroked naturally aspirated EJ22. The walls are thin, and the engine's simply not up to the task. Think about ...

Oh, right, automatics... Yeah, they ought to be okay. It will still affect transmission life, but it's not as big a deal as with the manuals. Yes, the factory setup controls boost based on the TPS. This is also what the Boost Monkey does, I believe; it has two levels of boost that it allows, and swi...

The ECU only uses the pressure sensor for 1) fuel cutoff, 2) boost-dependent ignition retard, 3) boost-dependent mixture richening, and 4) closed-loop boost control. Fueling is determined primarily using the MAF sensor. Another issue with an MBC, in addition to the full-boost-at-part-throttle issue,...
