Re: Reubens BC "Blighter"
So some dude made a vid of driving one of my favourite roads, the crown range. This is the road that claimed beast, due to my low oil I got starvation in the lower hairpin section. Just a sunday drive, we do this road maybe once or twice a month, there's a great restaurant at the end of it... https:...

Re: Reubens BC "Blighter"
I may or may not have secured a set of forged pistons... Now I'm thinking of keeping my eagle rods from beast, and using forged pistons and rods in the 2.2
Interesting... that just upgraded the weakest components significantly...

Watch out with stop leaks and whatnot, subies don't take kindly to them. I've seen cam and crank seals pushed out by people going too thick! So don't forget that's supposed to be a 5w-30 car!

Yeah, I like the back and forth banter, don't really did the no replies thing. Maybe I post there too?
edit: woops, missread the rules, disregard, topic now shifted!
And yeah, BC loves, always wanted one... Never ever in a million years would I have envisaged a mutant BC3 though! lol!

Have been posting on good ol Clubsub again, and I inevitably got the "why don't you just sell it and buy an RS?" questions. So I thought I should make this vid

Re: Reubens BC "Blighter"
First of Blighters FUN bits arrived yesterday too... I'm really impressed with the quality, especially given it barely cost more than the gaskets on their own if I was paying full banger retail through work (not so bad at staff though, lol). Dunno how I'm going to swing the dual water inlets though....

Re: Not a Legacy, but it'll do (JDM Forester)
That's stock, nothing STi about yellow injectors at all after 1998, when they went to the phase-II engines, These can be identified by BOV on intercooler, coil pack off to one side rather than centre mounted, or 8-bolt housing on the gearbox. ALL phase-II turbo's were equipped with yellows, if the e...

Re: Reubens BC "Blighter"
So anyone who drives a Subie with inverted struts eventually starts to disregard most mild suspension knocks, kind of a part of life. Well we started to notice a while ago that the knock in the back of Shale (Amy, my partners V4 2L non turb impreza - full STi suspension and body kit though) started ...

Re: Reubens BC "Blighter"
Almost... And I get that feeling when I haven't driven any of the turbo's for a while. But then just jumping into a stock GT here is enough to quickly turn me into GIB MOAR BOOST NAO. And who could say no to a 2.2L RS-RA port and polished 20G with a worked TD-05 strapped to it. Not I, that's for sur...

Re: Reubens BC "Blighter"
I've neglected this thread for a bit... woops. Friday: Finally got the 22 block halves apart, there's a bit of scoring on cyl 3, but nothing more than beast had on his 20R when we tore that down at 118,000km's, so not too bad. Put the block halves in "Mr Washy" to see how they come up, hop...

Re: Spotted Thread
Saw this outside work today, and thought of this thread. No, not a meet, just the average day in the work carpark. Don't know the blue wagon The Foz STi belongs to a guy from the tyre shop down the road, his other ride is a 95 WRX The V5 STi is my work mates, he only just bought it, his other ride i...

Re: Reubens BC "Blighter"
Last night I stripped more of the 22 block down. She sure did look toasty, the black oil caked in that engine... Yummy. Really want to send the block away and get it dipped and checked. Will be scrutinising those crank and piston tolerances!

Re: Reubens BC "Blighter"
Indeed, nobody stops to consider the amazing amount of work that went into the GC chassis to improve over the BC. Still the geometry is so similar, that I refuse to accept that I can't make my BC feel as nimble as a good stock GC. I'll get there, mark my words. In other new, I blew the head gasket i...

Re: Reubens BC "Blighter"
This is what Beast has, and what I want Blighter to have. I think more correctly, they are pillowball joints. Doesn't have to be STi, but the STi ones seem common enough, and are preferred. http://www.subaru-sti.co.jp/parts/gdab_impreza/image/2-1.jpg http://www.subaru-sti.co.jp/parts/gdab_impreza/im...

Re: Reubens BC "Blighter"
Also, some thoughts on the current handling (ooh, squirrels!), it's got to be one of the most bizarre rides I've ever experienced. I've been pushing it more and more into the corners, and I'm finding out it's actual grip levels are phenomenal, right up there with Beast and Shale, but it does NOT ins...
