I have used and recommend the General Motors Top End Cleaner, this stuff is supposed to be the best and you can get it from any GM dealership. Have also used stuff called Sea Foam, should be able to get it at any parts store, comparable to the GM. Used them both on my 87 GL 1.8, knocked like a sob w...

Don't know if I read it here or over on nasioc but there is a post that all 90 and up Subaru manual transmissions will bolt up to any EJ classified motor, such as our EJ22's and 22T's, EJ25, EJ...you get the point. The newest manual trans are 6-bolts (6 bolts connecting the trans and engine), while ...

The lugs off the WRX alloys are the same seat and thread pattern as the steelies on the regular Impreza and Legacy's, it's just the alloys have chrome lugs that have an acorn top (closed in top) while the regular lugs are open ended 20 cent steel cheapies.

It could be a rod or a plastic clip holding one of the rods or some broken components inside the lock itself. If you ask me it is probably the clip to the rod, there are two rod/clips to the door handle, one combination to the lock and one the the actual handle. The best way to find out is to remove...

If you sandblast, don't use sand, use glass beads (they sell this specifically for sandblasting applications) sand can actually remove more than the paint, and yes the stock WRX rims are painted, not clearcoated, have a small chip in one of mine. john k

The bulbs for the heater control and a/c are located ON the circuit board behind the switches, the bulbs lock/thread into the board. They are Subaru specific, you will have to go to a dealership to get them, all you have to do is bring the old ones in and they should have replacements in stock. Abou...

Subaru supposidly has upgraded their cam and crank seals to a better quality/more ware resistant material. The old seals were black and the newer ones that you can get from the dealerships are more of an off-brown color(new material). Replaced mine and have had no problems but they don't have 100,00...

No, the a/c compressor, alternator, and ps pumps don't need to be removed, they have their own brackets completely seperate from the intake manifold. The original gaskets for the intake are the metal type and should come off easily and clean, the replacement gaskets are the organic/inner metal braid...

Did this too, you have one line running from the tubing going to the interior heater core(on the right side of the engine when looking at it with the hood up), this line goes to the TB and out the other side to the IAC Valve out the side and back to the coolant "passage" under the intake(o...

Don't forget the power steering lines, pressure and return, removed at the pump. You might be able to leave them on and finess the intake around them but it's easier with them disconnected. Also, don't forget the wire harnesses for the injectors, cam and crank sensors, and temp gauge, other than tha...

Agree, this is normal considering you have higher miles on you car. I replaced the PCV valve and valve cover gaskets when I had my engine yanked to replace the clutch, I also cleaned the PCV hoses, valve covers, and IAC valve with carb/parts cleaner to help remove some of the gunk (which there was q...

About the synthetics and causing seals to leak, I emailed an Amsoil tech to see what I could dig up if this was true or not. This is what I wrote to them: >Comments >I have a 1990 Subaru Legacy 2.2L non-turbo, manual trans, 160,000 miles, >that I am looking to swich from conventional oil to either y...

walbro

If you do go with the Walbro, don't over do it with one of their 255lph pumps, this is way more fuel than your engine will ever need and your stock fuel pressure regulator cannot handle passing all this unused fuel past it. Possibly going with one of Walbros 155lph or 190lph, both of these offer imp...

Fuel Pump Reply

Remember that when you turn your key in the "on" position the fuel pump only cylcles once, then stops, it woun't continue cycling. This is a trick to keep it cycling (or if it's shot, to hear it not cycling), with your car off and the key out of the ignition, connect the two green electric...
