I use Valvoline 80W90 SynBlend gear oil in my diff and manual tranny. The only problem I had changing mine was how stiff the plugs can get!

The fact that I've never seen a washer on the drain plug might have something to do with it :) ... However, just on a lark, I bought a new drain plug and it didn't come with a washer...

Just to get my opinion in here, I use Valvoline 10W30 SynBlend in my car, not just engine oil but gear oil, too. I haven't noticed any changes in performance, but I looked at my valvetrain when changing valve cover gaskets and found everything to look like brand new after 113k. I'm not gonna fix it ...

I know this is an old topic, but I've got $.02 and I want to spend it here! :o I have tried the Bosch Platinum 4's and I saw absolutely no increase in performance, only a worsening of gas mileage. I was told that German plugs have colder heat ranges designed for German cars, therefore leave German p...

Everybody's right. Subarus love to leak from valve covers and I'm not just talking Legacies. Since the gasket has to combat oil pressure and gravity because of the boxer design, they are prone to leak oil and leak a lot of it. They're very easy to do themselves; however, I found it easy after taking...

Legacy Standard

Just out of stark curiosity, does anyone have any stories to tell of a Legacy Standard? I read a few things about them in my brochure, and although they certainly didn't look fancy or offer any great options, they came with the same engine and suspension, and the 90 sedan only weighed 2600 lbs! I th...

Her name is Patti

This is my baby, although these are very old pics taken right after the rims were put on. A wreck and a new paint job and a few other changes have happened since then.

As soon as she's lowered, I'll work on some updated pictures.

So if I don't have ABS, I don't necessarily need to remove the parking brake assembly? It'd be great if I only hafta take off the wheel! :o

Also, any special procedures to putting a new one in?

Broken wheel stud... AGAIN!!!

Anybody have any experience with a broken lug nut bolt on a rear wheel and any tips on how to get it out?

oh, okay, i took the airbox off and replaced it with a cone filter, and you need an adaptor fot that. Actually, I haven't taken the thing out of the fender yet! :o

If I've been incorrectly referring to the airbox itself as the snorkus, then just be assured i know now  !

You will have to put a nut on the end of the bolt to hold the adaptor on; you don't need that with the snorkus. You might do good with rubber washers, too. I was too impatient to put it on, I had to ghetto-rig the adaptor on until I found new parts  ! Aaron's ej22t, you were probably smart and...

snorkus removal

Legacy777 and I are the only ones that I know of so far to do it on a non-turbo. I personally can say it has better throttle response, it gives just enough power to make it actually feel a little faster, it loves cold weather, and it sounds good and loud! I got the kit off ImprezaRS.com and I got th...

GC8 top hats...

So GC8 top hats will fit the body, strut, and H&R spring? You guys have said anything that fits an Impreza will probably fit a Legacy, so I guess it could work. I looked on the Teague's Auto site and they have MRT and STi top hats. Anyone know if those fit BC-BF's?

Stromung mufflers

I am looking into a Stromung muffler because they're specific to Subaru and I like the look. I'm looking for an opinion or two on whether their ridiculous price is justified by substantial sound or performance enhancements. Nobody's made any mention of them here, so I wonder if they're worth conside...

Having same low idle problems

I am having a funky idle, too, so much so that a strain like steering on full lock will make it almost stall. I will check my IAC valve soon (thanks for the tip, guys! :o ), and I can also tell you don't play with the TB stopscrew, b/c it is giving the engine gas even when you're starting it, which ...

I use Valvoline 80W90 SynBlend gear oil in my tranny and rear diff and it seems to work just fine, except that you almost have to be stopped to put it back in 1st! However, I've talked to Impreza owners with the same gripe, and they recommend that upon slowing down, always go into 2nd, then 1st. It ...

Just so everybody knows, the H&R springs featured on tirerack.com do not fit BC Legacies, at least the 4WD ones. I found this out after my whole rear suspension was apart, and I have to return the springs now!

i'm a new member

Hi, everyone! I just joined this club and let me say I'm proud to be part of such a loyal following of a car that I knew had potential but I didn't think anyone else knew it. I have a BC `91 L 4WD, which aren't too common, at least in FL. I can't wait to start becoming an active member!
