turbo coupe t-bird uses a T3 IIRC. same as in a Saab 900 turbo (circa 87-93, after that I don't know). if you have a pick-apart yard near you, you can usually find lots of dead Saab 900T's. just take off the whole manifold/turbo assy. it's much easier to remove the turbo after it's off hte car. whil...

yeah, if it chewed the shaft itself, you're in some trouble. if it had just eaten the key, a new pulley would be 80 bucks and the throw in the key for free usually. personally, I'd rather get a new motor than go thorugh the head bolt torquing procedure. I'm pretty sure one of the circles of hell inc...

Wow.... turning pots to adjust boost.... This is going to remind me of my old Sabb 900 turbo days :D . In the ECU, there was one pot for max boost, another for how quick boost builds, and one that controlled knock sensor sensitivity. only the really hardcore guys would touch that last one. any time ...

bearings? our turbos are ball bearing? I figured they were from back in the days of rollers. that's an interesting bit of information.

NGK wires

Anyone have these? I've never seen them for sale anywhere. I didn't even know NGK made wires. I found a set on a car in the pick-apart yard that looked pretty new so I took them. Mine needed replacement. It could just be that they were newer than the ones I took off, but she seemed a little happier ...

Sorta. think of it this way. Think of the RHB5 as being an Impreza. the Impreza comes with 1.8, 2.2, and 2.5 engines (forget the WRX for this example). Impreza is the frame (RHB5), and the different engines represent the different configurations of the frame (VF 8, 10, etc) so saying "the legac...

I dunno what's going on with that either. I'm subscribed to the thread, so every now and then it pops up with a new blurb or 2. I haven't paid too much attention to it tho since the wife is driving the GC8 now. it's a '97 Impreza L. I'd drop the engine into that if I had the chance. it's black with ...

I really want to get a 00/01 RS coupe with a blown engine and drop my engine in there. then get some fiberglass fender flares. I guess that would be "project 22b" :D . I know the more recent GC8s were a little heavier, but the sexiness and sunroofness really does it for me. 3-400 lbs light...

It's got more to do with shoes than tires. when you move around in your seat, you build up a static charge. normally this discharges slowly though your ass and shoes. It does have to do with tires as well, since the car will bleed off static charges thorugh them. but if you have recently started wea...

my turbo sedan will shoot up to 105 wihtout any effort at all. very quick to break a buck. never gone any faster, but she's got loads left to give. for reference, I have a blled-type MBC set to 10-ish lbs, straight pipe axle-back, and a K&N filter. nothing big. the wagons should go slightly slow...

I had to drive my grandmother's camryu once. fairly recent... a '98or thereabouts. I was shocked at how little torque it had. I mean SHOCKED. the thing had no grunt at all. even my old '90 loyale felt like it had something on this car.

I remember that guy. his boost controller would spike to 20 PSI a little too frequently. one time he got a really hard detonation and blew a hole right through the block. you could see into the crankcase from teh outside. very ugly.

good thing I have a good chance of finding a replacement :D. a day or 2 after I did this, my engine started acting flaky. very boggy, then fine, then boggy... something tells me the MAF didn't like the mod. so I'm back with the screen now and just waiting till I can get to the pick-apart. so yeah. m...

I think the general consensus is that around 10-11 lbs is about all your should run without an intercooler. wiht stock engine management, I've had it up to 12, but only when it's bitter cold outside so the intake charge is still nice n chilly.

I actually really like my R-12 system. it feels so much colder than the brand new R-134 system in my '02 Impreza. unless something harms my system I think I'll keep it.

thankfully my R12 is holding up nicely. it's been pretty warm here for a few of the days, and it still blows ice cold :D . Unfortunately I hear the R-134 kills the bag in the drier canister. I dunno what can be done about this. I guess it'll work fine for a while and it'll flake out after some time....

do turbo legacies share their MAF element with NA legacies? the pick-apart yard near me has MAFs a-plenty, and they can usually be gotten for 10-20 bucks a pop. most legacies their are NA 2.2s between 90-93.

there's been talk of bearing damage due to removal of the harmonic damper, but so far it;'s only talk. if there is any damage, it's all long term. since I had the pulley issues I was thinking of going with a lightweight pulley. The only thing keeping me from going with one is the whole "no job&...

drop 40 bucks on a MBC. you can run upwards of 10-11 lbs of boost with it. that will cure your itch for a while. trust me :D . next get an IC. then you can up the boost until you hit fuel cut and need a FCD. stock injectos are good till around 1 bar, and that'll be getting you to the upper limit of ...

mike - I was VERY happy to see home.
