Some Early Spring Cleaning

Time to clean out the garage and hopefully get some needed cash to put back into my SS. I know I am missing some more things so look for updates. Also, it will take a day or two but I will have pics for anyone interested. Feel free to PM me with any questions. John J.C. Sports Cold Air Intake $50 + ...

awic for sale

I am not sure if your willing to part these pieces out, but just in case you are, I am looking to pick up just the radiator itself. I already have the rest of the awic setup, just need this last part. Also saw your other post, and I have to look to make sure but I believe I have the piece you need. ...

There is no gasket for the oil pump. Try using an aneorobic sealant instead of the rtv, I know that is what the Haynes/Chiltons recommends, not sure what the FSM's say to use.

There are two pdf articles from AutoSpeed that test and compare just about every i/c and awic Subaru ever produced, either here or overseas. It includes has bench flow rates and core sizes. Try doing a search, iirc Josh posted these originally.

I was rooting for the car, not the guy driving it!!! Glad to see that it wasn't totaled and of course that nobody seemed to get hurt. Did you see the two red Outbacks, couple of other subies in there too. Started me thinking that I should look at picking up an svx!

More tips.

Maybe I should add a few other tips, just in case this does get stickied and there are more people out there who are as retentive as myself when it comes to our subies and rust. While the sand, bondo, prime, paint does work, there are other paint/body/finish products that I have used that I would re...

Can vouch for this guy personally, even though he's not a die hard subie lover. He lives about 15 miles from me and I have been to his garage and all I did was drool. He deals in parting out wrecked wrx's and sti's and he has more "junk" parts laying around than most of the pack rats here....

full exhaust or turbo-back? It should be the same install as any wrx exhaust, just stainless steel instead of the wrex's mild steel tubing, same dia. and mounting points too, iirc.

Josh, I am starting to piece together just about the same setup as you and would like to jump into this post. I know that you were looking at the 92 overseas FSM for the electric water pump wiring. I was just wondering how you plan on running power to your pump? I just bought an OEM pump and awic an...

IIRC, it should be located next to or just behind the throttle body on the passenger side. Just recalling off the top of my head, the rear mounting bracket serves as both a ring to hook your chain to and a snap for one of the wire harnesses. Someone correct me if i'm wrong.

I would think that using an anaerobic sealant would work, almost like red threadlocker. I mean, it is recommended when replacing the oil pump so any residual sealant that got into your oil galleries shouldn't hurt anything.

STi I/C Water Sprayers

Here is the part number for the STi Sprayers: ZX58794WZ353

They usually list for about $9 each on subaruparts.com, was considering doing this once I get my IC installed.

boost gauge

Scott, I have an OEM WRX/STi boost gauge laying around that reads -.04 MPa at atmospheric pressure. I'm not sure what size gauge you are looking for but I believe the OEM is 1 3/4 in. in diameter. Didn't try breaking into the gauge myself but if you want, I will let this go for cheap. I also have pi...

I just installed the STi stock Lamco boost gauge in my 91 SS (I am a sucker for the stock OEM look) and I would suggest tapping into the ashtray dimmer light, it is the same exact male-female "T" connector as the stereo dimmer connector, just easier to get to imo. The Lamco comes with the ...

Josh, I have heard of a quick trick for cleaning out rusted gas tanks. With the tank removed and all the gas drained out and dried, take a handful of clean washers and drop them into the tank. Be sure to count how many you drop in and make sure that it is the same number you take out!!! With the was...

Have them, like them. I replace my original wires with NGK's and I consider them one of the better plug wires out there, great price, fit perfect, each wire was snug and "snapped" on the plugs. Another plus is they are blue, matching my JC Sports CAI and my engine bay/car. I have heard tha...

You don't have to try it, just a helpful suggestion. Also, to get all of the old fluid out of the rack, you have to move the steering wheel all the way to the right and to the left several times. If you don't, your just taking the good ps fluid you just put in and bypassing the rack, it has a pressu...

I did this when I had my motor out of the car, no gasket though, just high temp, oil resistant, silicone sealent. To do it in the car, I am sure you do have to remove the crossbar, I know they cover it in the Hayne's manual if you have one. John

I was thinking about doing this also. I havn't tried it yet, but this should work. Undo the two clips on the bottom line rubber hose going back into the resevior, this is the return line and is not under pressure. Now take a longer hose of the same diameter of the removed hose and a bottle or someth...
