Re: 92 Touring wagon Drop links
I have the same rear swaybar (a long out of production BC Whiteline bar) now with c-links as when I had droplinks. Worked without issue. I didn't notice any handling difference between the lateral link styles.

Re: Enduring Solutions ECU board and why you should buy it
Y'all know the title of this thread right
If I did it over again I'd go with a WRXLink, but as the SS isn't a "forever car" it's gonna stay.

Re: Looking for the right turbo
The VF23 is a special turbo, it was the turbo offered on the 22b, as well as the version 3 (and maybe v4?) STI. It is ball bearing and spools very quickly. I loved my old one. The VF39 is journal bearing, and spools slower than what you have. Top end is nearly identical, so unless your turbo is dyin...

Re: Enduring Solutions ECU board and why you should buy it
My ESL is still working good for almost 5 years now. It's in a different car (still an SS) and radically different engine (mix and match of parts, an ej22k with ej20g intake and electronics, ej205 coil on plugs). Like my robtunes, this one has a cold start issue occasionally. I mean, it's not really...

Re: RWD/Manual Swap Info
You're not gonna find a video or step by step guide for all of that in one place. I suggest searching internet wide for people who have done that and hit them up for knowledge. Then post your own guide on how to RWD, for the next guy who comes along and wants to do this. There once was a guy on here...

Sorry to hear about your engine. And sucks you missed out on the junkyard shortblock. Where's that SS at? I could use a couple things off it.

Re: Manual Seat Belt Conversion (Finished)
The US center console and its belts also bugs me... I'll prob make a trip to Vancouver BC to hit up a junk yard some day for that and maybe the carpeting if they're different to ours. So about the US center console bugs you? I wrapped the belts up inside and you don't even know they're there. Pics ...

Re: We're to buy a good low mileage engine freon a trust worthy place
Yes, you will have *all* the electrical issues if you attempt to install a phase 1 engine into your car. Or a phase 2 engine with AVCS. Or any JDM engine that has a different wiring pinout, or timing mark regime, or any other thing that the Japanese got that we didn't, that affects how the engine ru...

Re: We're to buy a good low mileage engine freon a trust worthy place
I don't have a good recommendation for an importer but I have heard of people going that route successfully.
My concern is instead of the factory 165HP, most of those Japanese engines are 2.0L with 123hp. You'll really be able to feel that power deficit when you're driving your 3600lbs outback.

Re: Automatic transmission swap to a manual transmission year 2004
Josh made a write-up on how to do the swap here: https://bbs.legacycentral.org/viewtopic.php?t=18370 Mechanically the information should be about the same, but electronically you'll have to hit up a site like sl-i.net, which deals with newer legacys such as yours. When you go through to Josh's write...

Standard for Subaru through 2007 at least. I picked one for a WRX, or STI, same part.

You'll have to pull the turbo to replace that line. I always replace it with OEM, but I believe you could get an aftermarket one on Amazon or ebay. I used worm drives to secure it, instead of the factory clamps.

1996 ej25d is the same as the lmpreza ej20g gaskets. 97-99 ej25d is close to ej20k (and Forester ej20g), close enough to use if you trim them a little. It's the Legacy ej20g gaskets that are unique. If you're talking combustion Chambers size, then the legacy ej20g and 1996 ej25d are unique in that t...

Lastly, the length of the Legacy knuckle may differ from the GC one, so the welder will need to ensure the developed length of the end result is correct.
