Thanks... axle did the trick

Thanks for all the input, you guys helped me self-direct the repair a little and in the end the axle did the trick. Cost me about $160 for the job, which I figured is reasonable. They sold me on their part rather than bringing in my own which would have been cheaper but unwarranted by them. So, mayb...

So, the axle was the problem. I had it replaced with a rebuilt one from the shop, and the problem is gone, which is really sweet (i was getting ready for a 1000 fix and it was 150 instead). I was gonna bring in my own axle, but got lazy and let the guy sell me on him being able to warrant the work i...

Advance Auto has 'em for $60... or new ones for $65. Is there a reason to go with cvaxles.com ... like are they superior in some way?

Thanks

My mechanical knowledge is quite limited, so when you say its gotta be the wheel bearing, right? I don't really know. I have not jacked up the car (but will do so), but the shop must've had it on a lift, and it seems they could/should have arrived at the bearing as the problem... why refer me to Xmi...

Floppy wheel!?! (Binding problem on front left corner?)

I posted briefly on this on another thread, but still have unanswered Qs. Here is my problem : The front left wheel goes floppy (very hard shake) while accelerating and turning gradually to the left. If it happens at 30mph it is a jalopy-like feel which shakes the steering wheel pretty good. If it h...

Unfortunately, it is not speed dependent. It comes and goes. Comes - when accelerating during a slow left hand turn (~30 and ~55 are where I have noticed it most.) Goes - when you ease off the accelerator or straighten up. It is also a stronger shake than an out-of-balance condition. It makes the st...

Thanks for the reply... When you say yours did the same thing after muddin... (which reminds me that mine acts up more in snow and rain than when dry)... do you mean that it shook violently from that corner... enough to feel like the entire wheel was " flopping "... and if it happened at 5...

Did the new tires fix the problem? I am having a very similar problem. Binding (but in the front left corner) while accelerating and turning to the left. 5MT, AWD. I have 2002 WRX wheels and tires on this 93 legacy wagon, and it seems as though some pretty loud buzzing has started coming from the fr...

WRX pads and calipers on Legacy

How hard is it to install the WRX stuff on your Legacy? Calipers and Pads, right? The pads alone will not fit on my stock system, as you seemed to indicate? I have a 93 Legacy Wagon, and would like to do the fronts and rears... can I go with WRX hardware all they way around? Thanks for the help. Matt

WRX woofer tweeter combo... in my 93 wagon?

Would these work? I guess tweeters are separated out in the WRX, and if that is not the case in the Legacy 93, I guess it is not gonna work... but thought I would check.

2000 Legacy Wagon seats in my 1993 Legacy Wagon?

I guess I am not sure what year you put your 98GT seats into. So, what do you think about me putting 2000 Legacy Wagon Seats into my 1993 Legacy L Wagon? They would be a SSSWeeet Upgrade! Leather Buckets and Leather Bench in back. Chances they'll fit??? Seem slim to me, but maybe someone out there h...

COuld you define coilover...

Could you define "coilover" for me. And explain why that solved problems porting over from a WRX to your Legacy Wagon. I have a 93 Legacy Wagon that I would love to replace suspension parts on and want to do it right. WRX stuff seems attractive. I have WRX springs, but they are from a seda...

...Some devices do actually run brighter with the headlights off, the idea being that if the lights are off, it has to compete with daylight, while if the lights are on, the ambient light is lower. Precisely so... I think that is what is happening. Bright green background for daylight. And, I think...

No lights at night...

Well, I don't have time to take the stereo out again tonight, but here is what is happening after my little test ride around my neighborhood. With the HL off, the backlight is BRIGHT green. With the HL (or parking lights) on, backlight is VERY DIM green (so dim i thought it was off). In BOTH cases, ...

inversion circuit

So, am I gonna have to build one of those little circuits to invert the function? Another thing that seems above my pay grade.

At least that explains what is going on though, thanks! It is amazing the problems that have come up and already been figgered out.

Just did it... WRX Changer in my 1993 Legacy Wagon

Thanks for the help. I did the adapter and it is working fine... almost. I went to Circuit City and they pointed out that the "yellow/white" wire matched up with the orange wire on the old harness, making it the dimmer wire. I believe them, but now that I have it installed, the only proble...

WRX Changer install in 93 Legacy Wagon

OK, I have the harnesses and I am about to "adapt" them. At the stereo place I got them from, they noticed one white/yellow wire coming from the harness that they did not recognize. For that reason they were hesitant to do the adaptor themselves (liability?). Anyway, does anyone know what ...

How do I "create" an adaptation harness? That sounds difficult, and I was really kinda hoping this would be "plug and play"... maybe I have been fooling around with computers for too long (which are more like plug and pray anyway).

Thanks,
Matt

I need to reproduced this!!
I have the 6 disc waiting to go into my '93 Legacy Wagon... is there anything I need to do or does it just plug right in?

Disconnect battery?
ECU codes?

I am a newbie... but learning.

Thanks.

Just did a variation of your headlight clean

I think I found it at NASIOC forums. Went from 200-400-800-1500 grit sandpaper with the last one wet. Then I got some chrome/metal polish (Blue Magic I think), and gave them the twice over (this is supposed to leave a silicon coating, and I can attest that they are very smooth and click now). VERY g...

03 WRX Springs on 93 Legacy L Wagon

I would be interested in any thoughts on whether the WRX springs can be easily put on the Legacy Wagon (93). I bought springs only... $5 on eBay if you can believe it... so if they are useless, that is OK. Alternative ideas are welcome for a strut/shock/spring replacement on my 175,000 wagon with wo...
