OBD1 Reader

Just got this in and I do not have CEL hooked up, I am super stoked, to able to see any codes. I have 92 ej22 in my VW Synco.

Do you have the oxygen sensor hooked up? If you do, I would check the wiring from the oxygen sensor to the ECU.

Try clearing the codes and see if the O2 sensor comes back.

O2 is hooked up, but I didnt try clearing the codes. I oreded a new one since this one is pretty gummed up.

I gues the ecu just runs in defualt mode since O2 not working? Maybe this is why plugs so clean.

The O2 sensor is responsible for closed loop running and affects fuel trims which can increase power and/or improve fuel economy over time, depending on how you drive fuel type/quality, etc.

If the O2 sensor isn't work, the ECU stays in open loop mode and performs fueling via the fuel tables.

Should I have the green connectors and the black connectors together when i use thiis?

I used different software (Revscan) but I didn't need to plug the black or green connectors in to read values or reset codes.

No, you don't need to have the diagnostic connectors when you use the scan tool.
