Engine Built Up Help.

Post by Not.Shiny »

Hello, first post on the forum, friend of mine strongly recommended I join up. So I have a first gen legacy, 1993. A lot of you guys probably recognize it. Anyway, looking to get some power out of it next year, already have my paint guy ready to shave my engine bay after I tuck it. So I have a few questions if anyone wants to help me out. I'm new to Subarus.. Anyway.

1) Swap out ej22t? build it? DOHC heads?
2) ABS Delete - how?
3) Cruise Control - It's unhooked, can I just yank all that crap out?
4) Rear seats - is it true that I can get v4 rears and just install them? Or send them to upholstry to get matched up (either way will cost about the same)

That's all I've got for right now.. Hopefully someone out there can help me out.

1) Depends on your goals.
2) Yes, You'll need a non abs master cylinder (Legacy wagon has 1" bore master cylinder, FWD non abs SVX has 1-1/16" master cylinder and the matching brake lines & proportioning valve.)
3) Take it out.
4 Impreza Sedan seats up to 07 fit.

Where are you located?

I'm in Southern Ontario. If anyone has that stuff btw, give me a shout I'm interested.

EDIT: And my goal is to have a good kick.. I figure I could do that on an ej22t

Do you want low end, neck snapping off the line power? I'd stick with the EJ22T, a quick spool turbo and look into a 4.444 swap. They end up blistering quick off the line, but you won't be out pulling any Ferraris on the express way any time soon.

For now, 90% of the time you spend on the car should be doing research. The car is too old to have aftermarket support, so you are going to be customizing everything. The info is out there on this website if you are willing to put on the legwork. But... this car is pretty enthusiast only at this point.
