If we can get a german number, then that'd be easy as pie, i've got tons of contacts over there. if the headlamps are similar but configured for driving in the right side of the road, then that would be better even....

Let's make it happen!
Jason,

If you have contacts over there.....couldn't you just ask them to go to the subaru dealer and find pt. numbers?

From a post on nasioc about the rev #'s.

The Rev A & B were the 1st gen 90-91 models for the US.

The Reb C & D were the 1 1/2 gen 92-94 models in the US with the face lift.

I don't know why there is a difference between revisions though.

It looks like the updated part numbers for the A revision are the same as the B revision.

completely clear

Post by Subby90BFAWDnonTurbo »

Quick question, whould it be a problem in anyway if I were to get a pair of used lights, like from a junkyard , Cut the outside lens and put a 100%clear plastic.....so it would be clear like all the newer cars....

just wondering

Thanks Everyone

Yes, it would be a problem. The fluted lenses are part of the optics of the headlamp. The reflector is parabolic, and the lens makes the beam pattern.

The newer "clear lens" lamps you see use a free-form reflector that makes the beam pattern directly.

That extra mounting point for the blinkers is in the side marker lights section, not the headlight, though. The headlight is the same other than the reflector and the glass material. The headlamps and the side lamps wouldn't all be under the same part number would they?? They'd be sold seperatly.

Man I like that subaru. I would really like to get a hold of the ground affects on that thing, or whatever they are called. The trim on the bottom of the sides and rear bumper.

You could convert the headlight to clear plastic if you could find a good way of forming it to mount to the housing in a waterproof manner. You'd then have to install some lights behind it that don't rely on the flutes of the headlight for light distribution. I was thinking of doing this to mine and mounting the '93-2000 Integra lights behind the clear cover. Went to the junkyard, but found they were just too wide. Not sure if I could bisect the housing, chop out some of the material between the lights, and weld it back with a plasitc welder. I could then custom fab some brackets for mounting, and I'd have an excuse to get a smaller battery or relocate it to the spare tire well. The reason I didn't go for it is that I couldn't think of a satisfactory way to convert to unfluted headlight covers other than trying to polish down the flutes on the inside (no thanks!) or having a plastics place mold a new set for me ($$).

Well there goes that Idea , maybe I cause do the same thing but use change the light to duel(maybe even triple  ) Projector system. From what vrg3 said I think that just might work. Hmm an BF/BC with Projecter (maybe angel eyes) I would not might trying that. Hey would that be more problems than its worth?

thanks everyone

Well, I have been planning on trying to mount a set of Hella 90mm lights in torn-apart BC/BF headlight housings... I have the lights and the old housings in my garage but haven't had time to touch them. Assuming they fit, it should be good. These headlamps are awesome. I think they are the same ones as in Morettes.

Would this replace the whole headlight assembly or just the front? I thought I read that you were going to do a group buy on these, what is the word? If you are going to do a group buy, you can count me in.

jason.....you just need to live in a place with less rain ;)

I've sorta been working on trying to get a set of these lights from overseas. Mainly due to the much better beam pattern then the crappy ones I got.

The headlights will be european glass lenses for left hand drive cars, right?

What countries had those?

If this group buy does actually start-up, I'm in.

If we still need German part #'s I can e-mail a couple people in Germany. It could take a bit to get a response but it can be done.

yes they are european glass lenses for LHD cars.

Germany, netherlands are the two areas I'm working....

New....they are rather expensive. I'm trying to find some used ones....I don't think a group buy would materialize unless there was some major stock pile.

What is the difference between a left hand style headlight and a righthand style?

In a lefthand style set, the beams will actually illuminate a little further off to the right (side of the road)

In a righthand set, they'll side-out the other way.

Problem with using the wrong set? Possibly blinding oncoming traffic.

Let me know how things go Josh. I'm real interested in these. Legal or not. I'll just put a lens cover on them or something. How much were they new?

If you do find some used ones and they have extra, I'll probably jump in also if it is a fairly decent deal.
