Buying and building a Rallycross car for my brothers.

Post by douglas vincent »

Basically I owe both my brothers some money. And now I can start paying them back due to some better income. But since they don't "need" the cash, and I know they want to rallycross but don't have vehicles they want to thrash anymore, I gave them the option of cash, or a built car. OK, "built" is a relative term.

I am going to get a craigslist 90-94 sedan or wagon (preferably wagon, they are just better looking) in 5mt form for $1000 or less. Then I am going to gut it 100%, rebuild the engine in NA form for now and give them a present.

After that, I will do all the work, they just have to buy the parts.

I rallycrossed an NA '90 5MT wagon for years. It was great. I didn't do hardly anything to it, although I did need to put in fresh shocks when I first started out to keep it from bouncing off the bump stops all day long. You might want a skidplate if the venue is particularly rough, but that was never necessary for me.

you could even build them an ea81, those things really kick ass in rallycross. ej22 it(you could make the adapter yourself, the bottom holes line up ea trans-ej motor), weld the rear, gut it, skid it, rally tires and youre done.
