TD05-16g
Deadbolt says that their TD05-16 will bolt up but there will be minor modifications to make it fit properly. Has anyone here done the install of the TH05h-16g with the clocked 90º inlet? I thought I saw that the only real problems were with the cooling and oil lines. Anyone done this installation? pictures?
Thanks for any information.

I had their Monster 16G on my '92 SS also. Very nice turbo and pretty easy to install.

I'd replace the DP and up-pipe gaskets personaly.
Search, I have a write up about when I did mine. I don't think the pics work any more though.

Guys, thanks for the insight and advice. I'm a noob with this and appreciate the help. I think I have enough guts to yank the old one out and stuff a new one in. I'll call Jerry and order one tomorrow.
I guess it's like the time I had to install a new window into an exsisting wall. It was tough to plunge the saw into a perfectly fine wall but it turned out OK.
Were you guys able to do this as one person job in a day?
thanks again

If you get the clocked 90 deg inlet, it should be a pretty easy install. You'll just need to modify the coolant lines I believe....
As for the ECU upgrade, no you don't need to, however this turbo and an intercooler with higher boost and proper engine management can be a good combo.

injectors needed, ya?
because I'm just running a simple TD04L w/ TMIC, but keeping boost at 14psi just to be safe because I don't want to go lean. On cools night it creeps to 17psi in middle 4th, and when going into 5th. But boost drops back down when the RPM goes up to 5000rpm. It's just when I shift and the RPM is like 4500 is when the boost creeps to 16-17psi. If it's day time, it just scoots to about 16psi, but holds steady at 14-15psi.

Yeah....sorry about that....you do need injectors. I'm still running close to stock boost, and maxing out the MAF/Injectors.

The 550 cc/min STi injectors are probably your best bet. You need to switch fuel rails, but that's not too big a deal.

I haven't swapped mine over yet, but I got the rails and injectors for just over $200 (shipping bumped it over 200).Legacy777 wrote:The 550 cc/min STi injectors are probably your best bet. You need to switch fuel rails, but that's not too big a deal.
You can find pretty good prices on the stuff on eBay. I think my rails were $40 and came with the original injectors in them.

You cannot make use of the extra injection capacity without some variety of method of controlling the fuel trim (i.e. piggyback ECU) as your MAF will still be railed at the same boost pressure with the new injectors as the old.chochocho wrote:if we get the td-05 and get the N/A fuel rail and 550 side feed injectors, when should we expect to make changes to the ecu?

I think some folks are using the grey 440's that came on the factory 16G equipped EJ20G's on stock LSS ECU's without too much drama (check 1/4 mile time post).
I'm sure trimming fuel via some for of EM will unleash a few more donkey-power.
I am personally running a EJ20G with 440's off my stock LSS ECU, & although the car will not break any records it runs pretty good.
