Engine Mounts

Post by race_to_live »

I pulled the engine out yesterday and found I had 4 engine mounts, that is 2 mounts split in half. Where can I find some?

I ordered the STI Group N engine mounts from the dealer. The brackets that come with it are slightly different from stock. I ended up using the STI engine mount and the stock mounting plate. All bolted up just fine.

The other plates are just a little bit bigger and beefier. There was no need to use the stock plates because the other ones bolt on and mount just fine.

With the STI or stock plates? I'm not disputing the STI Group N mount will work fine.

Your pictures didn't work. I wanna see this because I am running the STI group N mount and bushing. I had no problem with installing it. I just wanna see your pictures because maybe I got some weird plate or something.

Yes, the plates are different. So what? They bolt up to my '91 SS perfectly. STI GR. N rubber and steel have been on for five years, no problem. They probably were designed to be used as set, for a reason. Use the plate and rubber together. Or do what ever you want.

The reason they're different is because the bolt holes for the engine mounts are directly in line with the mounting holes on the outsides. This is said to reduce stress on the plate and bolts because this way there's no leverage.

I'd use the STI ones with the holes lined up. I installed Group N STI mounts. I can't remember if I used the stock EJ20G plates or the Group N plates. There's probably pictures of it in my build thread. I almost think I may have used the stock ones because they had heat shields but I'm not sure.

Pretty sure I used the STI mounts with their plates as well and had no problems.
