Exhaust options
Hello, just joined and just picked up a 93 legacy ej22t and was wondering if the 02 wrx turbo back exhaust would fit since the turbo positions are the same thanks

Hi and welcome. There is nothing* that is a bolt on, but with a welder and and a hacksaw, and some exhaust pipe tubing, you can make anything work.

Dang. Ok I'm having a hard time finding a bolt on system, even headers are not easily located. And I'm no good with a welder.

What people tend to do on the forum, is to buy an 02-07 WRX or STI ebay "turbo back" exhaust and take it to a muffler shop to have it modified to fit. Should be $200 or less for the custom work, plus the cost of the exhaust of course. 3" is the most common size.
Headers are a different story, anything for a WRX/STI will bolt on. However, unless you have a broken or rusted through stock exhaust manifold, there is no performance improvement from going aftermarket. Unless.... you are running a gigantic turbo and making over 450 HP lol. Any factory turbo is going to be too small to need a larger manifold, and you are hurting throttle response and quick spool by going larger, pre turbo.
Hamilton, huh? That's where my sister lives. Other than a couple WRX's, foresters and outbacks, I didn't see too many Subarus there.

I have a td04 I was planning on installing with a tmic, and looking into the Rob tune ecu, not looking to race just quick for a old rust bucket. This will be my first turbo project.. 93 legacy sedan faded purple
Aren't the wrx/sti duel port heads?, mine is single

The 22t had dual port heads from the factory. Matter of fact, even the non turbos from 1990- early 1995 all had dual ports heads.. How sure are you that its a 22t?

I'm very sure. Bwaaap pshhh lol plate says ej22taw388.. I had a 97 impreza with the ej22 that had single and my buddy had a 98 single as well. But they were both na motors

Yeah if the engine is original, then it has a dual port manifold. This manifold is virtually identical to later WRX and STI, only big difference is those have a spot for an 02 sensor in the manifold, and the WRX's had a cat and an egt sensor in the up pipe. As I mentioned, the early ej22's were all dual ports. Some 1995's also got the dual ports, I had one of those. But my 96 and 98 legacys and 98 impreza were all single ports.

That's good to know, I'd like some headers for the nice subi rumble! And like to go 3" turbo back.. I really appreciate the feedback. If I knew how to post a picture I'd show you my car lol

You gotta make an account at photobucket or similar to post pics. Also, the factory headers are already the rumbly type (unequal length) so all you need is an aftermarket muffler. Or a straight pipe For fun you could unbolt your muffler and drive around a couple times.

My muffler fell off right at the back axle and it sounds decent, but I'd like to fix it. That was running a little rich in the video lol. Sounded clean tho

Yeah I'm not saying it sounded good, just that it had the classic rumble lol.
To have a cleaner sound on my own SS, I replaced the midpipe with nothing but a straight pipe with an 18" resonator and a bosal muffler modified to be 3". The resonator kills the highway droning noise, but also makes it quieter. The muffler shop had 8" and 12" resonators for more noise, but I don't like the extra attention lol. It's somewhat quiet except when you step on it. Guess I'll have to record it one of these days lol.

On my rs and fozzy I had straight pipe from the cat back no resonator along with headers and they sounded mean

Fronts yes with rotors and pads, rear wrx brakes are a downgrade.

Ok, my rotors are bad so I was going to replace and since I was going to have the calipers off anyways I was just going to replace the calipers too

Yeah the 02 WRX stuff is all bolt on. The rear SS rotors are vented like the fronts, whereas the WRX and 90% of all other subarus are solid disks. Basically, the only subarus to get vented rears in the states are: 1991-1994 SS & TW, 04+ STI, 2006-2007 WRX, 2005+ Legacy GT. Maybe the Tribeca.

Thanks! I really appreciate all the help. I'm a subi enthusiasts but I'm still learning
