idle goes up and down then car dies.

hello,i have a 1994 legacy L, yesterday i was driving and the car started to want to stall I pulled over then it died, turned it back on drove home no problem. Today I would turn it on, runs for a few seconds then the idle goes up and down and the car dies. Any idea of what could be causing this? thanks.

Need to clean the IAC, that should fix it.

I'd bet money it's the MAF sensor.

I had a similar issue years ago where the car just died while driving. I let it sit for a little bit and the engine started back up and drove home fine.

I cleaned the IAC and still dies especially while driving and I can also turn it of for a few seconds and drive home normally, I'll replace that and hope that fixes it. thank you.

Yes, replacing the MAF sensor completely fixed the problem, I have been driving the car for about a week and half without any more issues.
