I left mine and tapped holes inn my valve covers to stil have the vents like it is on the STI and turbo legacy.

Ok, so you still had the single wire for the dash.

No. The wrx sensor is 3 wire, 2 for the ecu and 1 for the gauge cluster. Remember I switched everything out. Dash, Harness, ECU, the whole nine yards.

edit...

yes the old dash sensor is still there in the cross over, it took me a second to take in what you typed Josh.

mike-tracy wrote:Also, what are you going to do about the forward PCV? 90* port on the top of the 22t block? I mocked up the ej205/255/7 crossover pipe on my block and it contacts that pipe. My idea is to use a phase I crossover pipe with the sensors on the same side as the ej205's so the wiring easily reaches and cap the port off.
07 Sti crossover pipe clears the PCV 90*. I ran into this issue with my hybrid build. (pic courtesy Fuji K)

I asked a lot of people about the 90* issue (NICO, Fuji K...) and in the end I ended up plugging the hole with a 12.2mm freeze plug at NAPA (part no. 381-3193). It was about $1.30 or something. I used green loctite and tapped it in. Over 5k on the build and no issues whatsoever. Ideally I would have tapped the hole and plugged it with a bolt but I had already assembled the shortblock and didn't want any chance of metal shavings getting in the system. I thought about rigging up a vacuum attachment up against the hole from the oil pan area but the freeze plug works great.

i have a question for you guys. i have a set of sf5 20g heads shim over bucket and i picked up a 22t legacy last night. could i run the 20g heads or would that bump my compression through the roof?

With stock thickness head gaskets you're looking at about 7.7:1 compression. Those heads are almost identical to 97-99 25d, the only parts that differ are the camshafts and provisions for the turbo oil drain and feed, and turbo coolant feed hose.

Would they be a good choice in heads for a 22t?? I have a set of 96 25d heads as well

The 96 25d heads are not suitable for use on an ej22 at all. The combustion chambers on them are wider that the bore and will cause hot spots and detonation. The 20g heads you have would be your a good choice for your engine, from many member's reviews even with the low compression ratio off boost drivablility is still very good.

Not too low at all. Mine is 7.49:1 with the head gaskets I chose.

Have done this as well!

02' WRX ECU with the Carberry ROM. EJ20K power steering pump to allow the turbo inlet to clear. Also blocked off that front 90:

Just curious, not just for myself but for others, what did you do about your speed sensor signal?
