I saw something pretty crazy yesterday...

Post by 555BCTurbo »

Alright, I was driving through campus at Western Oregon University (my school), at around 4 30pm on a gloomy, drizzly day...

Anyway, as I am driving through, coming towards me is a bright red, very wide, low car...

As it gets closer to me, I realize it is a Ferrari Enzo...no doubt, it was an Enzo for sure!

I am just baffled why I saw a $700,000 car driving through my college campus in a town of 8000 people?!?!?!?

Definately don't see one of those every day!

Wow, really! I'm happy when a see a Ford GT or a 360 Modena. $700k is what they cost new, you can't get one now for less than like $1.2 mill. Pretty good investment if you ask me.

The Ford GT40 got the "40" in its name because it was only 40 inches tall at the roofline. I believe the new GT has similar dimensions.

The Enzo is sweet for its technology and rarity, but as far as I'm concerned, the F40 is the one :D

the ford gt is 43 inches tall. not that it matters. ive seen both side by side. local guy has 3 real orignal gt40's as well as 15 orignal shelby cobras. hes also oppening a world class track next year. f1 could race on it with a little modifacation. he threw a party and had a few of his cars there. no enzo... but i see one every once in a while. the same one that road and track reviewed a few years back.

here are some pics.

the rest are here. thoes arent all of them just the ones i put up

I actually saw a GT40 on the road two weeks ago. I was so shocked. I had to take a double take to make sure it was actually what it was. I tried to take a shot with my picture phone but it didnt' turn out. Also, right about then he was getting off on the next exit.

A Lamborghini dealer is opening a couple miles from me across from a shopping mall.

The F40 is definitely the shit. I followed one in Monterey for miles. Got to see some flames from the wastegate exhaust, though he drove pretty slow.

It's possible that it was a replica.

I see lots of cars like that around me.

I saw a Porsche Carrera GT the other day. And another one, a different one, later the same day. And I've seen 2 Bently Continental GT's on the Washington Beltway, almost next to eachother.

The Carrera GT requires $700 in labor to change the engine oil... + 11 quarts of Synthetic.

Oh good, Porsche has reduced the amount of oil the damn things take!!

I think my dad's 911 takes like 16 quarts or so...

Yes Snowboarded:

The 911's are all dry sump, so they require quite a bit of oil, as the engine is in the back and the cooler is up front, and then they also use the oil as a device for cooling...so I s'pose having more helps keep it cooler over all...

Makes oil changes $$$$$ :-(

Yeah...Porsche 911 engines are "Dry Sump", meaning that the oil is contained in an external tank, instead of in the bottom of the crankcase...hence no oil pan to hit on stuff!! :-D

Yes, the tank is quite a large capacity...which is important because the 911's also burn a bit of oil, even when they are brand new, because of their engine design and the materials used. Our 911 is sometimes down 2 quarts, but it really isn't an issue, because it has 13 or 14 more!

They are a pretty neat piece of machinery, and Horizontally Opposed to boot (=sounds soooooo good)
