Looper madness

Post by 93forestpearl »

Last week was spring break, so besides working, I spent alot of time fishing for Loopers (Kamloops), which is a strain of Rainbow Trout from the Pacific Northwest which was introduced into Lake Superior about 25 years ago.

My friend also caught this little Coho Salmon.

Mmm rainbow trout. Gay or not, those fish taste damn good.

Nice fish. Is that you? Did you catch it or pay someone so you could hold it? Joking.

Can't wait to go fishing again this year. I surf cast just a block from our families beach house. I will be fishing this spring break!

Ya thats me in the top with the trout. I was pretty buzzed up at the time. An hour of drinking Summit with nips of whiskey will do that on an empty stomach :smt023

Trout are damn good to eat. They are a pretty oily fish compared to other fish like pike and walleye, but not as much as salmon.

We've been hittin'em on slinky weights with crawlers. The worm blower is key to get the bait off the bottom. That and a 12' pole to get it out there. That fish was almost 27".

Otherwise, its kinda like ice fishing with tip-ups. Cast out, set the rod, drink and play cribbage till something bites. Good times.

I love to fish.

I miss Oregon....much better fishing then here in PA. PA is famous for it's trout streams and fly fishing but I miss the Salmon, Steel head runs on the Rogue in my Dads flat bottem drift boat. Damn....I'm home sick. :(

Matt you should come up to NE ohio to come fishin with us up here in Lake Erie. Huge fish, and it's the fight of your life. Mostly since the fish actually do fist fight you, they kinda grow arms and other apendages....
