The "New" LC Decal Thread...DECALS FINISHED

Post by SLODRIVE »

I know this sort of thing has been tried here before without any great success, but this time I'm actually going to make it happen if there's enough interest.

This thread started a conversation about having some kind of forum decal so members could spot each others' cars. I really like this idea, and since I have the means to make just about any sticker, I can (and WILL) make it happen. I e-mailed Josh (Legacy 777) and got the go-ahead, so here goes...

Please post up if you are at all interested in this. The pricing and means of distribution are yet to be determined, but that shouldn't be a big deal, and I'm positive they'll cost MUCH less than you think.

Also, feel free to give any suggestions and/or submit any logo ideas if you have them. My wife (<-- graphic design master) is almost done with a logo design I think you will all really like, and I'll post it up in the next day or two. If there's several submissions that look good to everyone, perhaps a poll could be set up at that point to narrow it down.

Let's get this done, guys! 8)

^^^ No worries bro, I'm just repeating what I know my wife would say. :)

Besides, I was just going for simplicity with the above logo. Something relatively easy to spot in traffic, but still somewhat small.

Looks good, but too flash. I was thinking something more subtle. Like maybe the same thing in black or grey on a transparent background. Something that doesn't attract unwanted attention.

It can be any size we want...again, I was thinking 5 inches wide and 2.5 inches tall, cut into an oval, but it can be smaller or bigger.

Duly noted, and awaiting any other suggestions/ideas. Something like that can certainly be done as well.
(I gotta ask though, what kind of unwanted attention would any LC sticker attract? Nobody even looks at Legacies around here.)

I'll see what I can do to get a design together like that then. Personally, I like the idea of gray better than black...Black would be pretty hard to see if you have dark tint.

I'm not so much thinking of trying to see the sticker of an oncoming car as much as when I happen to pass the rare car in a parking lot. If you're on a 2-lane road at even 35 mph, the approach speed is 70mph and that's going to make it hard to see any small sticker clearly - let alone on the highway.

If you're on the interstate, you can always pace the car a tad for a better look at a small sticker.

With regards to who looks at a BC - how many people here have had their car's broken into or stolen? I've had mine broken into and there's been plenty of threads about these getting stolen. The secret's out and they're becoming more attractive to thiefs. I don't want any more attention drawn to my car than my big/slotted brakes, and sadly the oversized muffler, already do.

I like the design, don't get me wrong, it's just a little too big/bright for my taste to put on my car.

And added props to you for putting in some work to try and make this happen - thank you.

In all seriousness, I'd rather we emulate the RS2.5 decal... there's something about a profile outline that is subtle yet stylish. The plain text that appears on the homepage, "legacycentral dot org" should be where RS2.5 is in their logo, with the profile of either our wagon or sedan body style outlining it. Simple yet effective. No colors or other tackiness necessary (because I don't know about most people, but unless it's clean and simple it won't be going on my car).

Really? You want to be like the RS25 crowd? :(
Seriously though, I don't think there'd be anything recognizable enough about either a Legacy sedan or wagon profile outline to make it, well, recognizable as a Legacy. I like the creativity, though. Someone here was doing some line drawings a little while ago that turned out really good. But that's getting away from the whole subtle, inconspicuous aspect of this community endevour.

I like the outline too actually. It is still physically big but doesn't really jump out at you. And who cares if other people don't recognize the outline - we will.

Just another thought....
