Well for those of you who are curious about what your 3"TBE would sound like with a high flow cat installed here you go.

Vid at the end of all the pics.
$69 bucks on ebay, had it in about 3 or 4 days.

Video of before and after, sounds exactly the same IMO.

Very cool Mike, and good documentation!

I'm curious to see how it sounds with the test pipe.

Where did you get the 3" gasket. I've found a few places but they're not cheap....

Also....that test pipe was yucky...even for SS.

Did you watch the video? Its sounds pretty similar. Without the cat it sounds more raspy like racecar sounding. sounds smoother with the cat.

I got the gaskets and flanges from FRSport.com Here are the gaskets:
http://www.frsport.com/FRSport-3-Inch-- ... _1305.html
At 7.95 each not bad at all but the shipping will be around 10 bucks.

2BOLTGASKET 2 $7.95 $15.90
Flanges 2 $9.60 $19.20
Subtotal: $35.10
Shipping cost (UPS Ground): $11.39

Total cost: $46.49

The Cat cost me $69.02 with free shipping.

So the total project minus the welding wire ;) cost me:

$115.51

As for the test pipe, the whole exhaust is covered in tranny fluid. The 4EAt is completely wet but its not leaving any pools under it in the driveway or in the garage. It cleaned up pretty well with the simple green and a wire brush.

Mike you are magic! Yes, if someone is thinking of having a shop do it 3" flanges aren't usually stocked - also that shape too.

Rock on! You don't have that sweet reek anymore which is nice with probably zero power loss...

I decided to put on a high flow cat after my friend said he was getting a headache from driving behind me on a spirited run. =)

Yeah I experienced the same on group drives. Remember stopping in a big group on the way to a WCSS and getting pretty much stunk out. As much as I love the test pipe sound I swore I wouldn't do the same when I got my 3" put together.

Its called a "test pipe" because you aren't legally supposed to use it on the road, in other words, without the cat installed. Test pipe meaning that you would pull out the cat and install this straight pipe in its place to reduce the restriction.

This test pipe is just for the CES system. So it may not provide the information you're looking for.

I can take a measurement of the test pipe length when I get home.

Is your whole TBE custom for your car or is it a modified WRX setup?

It's made by a company in Australia called CES.

The whole TBE is made for the turbo Legacy.
