-Thanks. I just found these metal pieces in my shed, cut them and drilled some holes. The alignment was perfect for holding the tank. I used one of those rubber/metal grommets you can find on the 02 wrx tmic brackets as a spacer on one side to level the tank out. The tank looks to be higher than the turbo. If not, I can swivel the brackets around to bring the tank up higher.

^Okay awesome, thanks Josh.
-Did a few more things this weekend. Been trying to trace down a possible vacuum leak. Did a compression test, 140 psi in all cylinders:
Image

-Here is what the spark plugs looked like:
Image

-Found a little bit of oil in the cylinder closest to the oil filler cap:
Image

-On a better note, installed a better boost gauge. First pic is a comparison, car running, cause I thought the cheapy gauge wasn't accurate. Second pic is the final product:

-Compression test was done with all spark plugs out and TB WOT.

-Ya it is but there's a downside. The Autometer gauge may be defective. The AM gauge was almost $70 compared to the $30 gauge from Harbor Freight. The AM gauge shakes under boost, WOT. As where the HF gauge gave a more accurate reading no matter where it was. Kinda disappointing.

-On a better note, finally got my intake fixed. The stock 90° elbow kept breaking on me so I went aftermarket. Found a silicone elbow that worked, then tapped into the Apexi intake and put all my breathers in that way:

Yeah I think gauges are worth spending extra on. My gauges work fine but quality is mediocre on the innovate gauges and I wish I had nicer ones and bigger too.

I Just purchased a PODI Mechanical Gauge cause a few friends have some of there stepper gauges and are very pleased with them. My cheap Equis gauge fluttered like crazy to.

The new one came with an air filter and a small bleeder type reducer that reduces the volume of air rushing to the gauge, works awesome :!:

2 local PNW VW/Audi guys own the company, one from Vancouver, B.C. One from WA. :

Sounds like Autometer's are hit or miss. Obviously they sell alot more , so your gonna hear alot more complaints though.

^Thanks for the info. Eventually I would like to have all matching gauges. I was looking at aem and or prosport for a boost and wideband. I just can't justify spending $300+ on gauges at this time. Sooner or later though!
-Did the reducer help at all with the needle shaking? I use to run Equis gauges back in my neon days, but never for boost.

-Well, I thought it was time for a battery so I bought an Optima yellow top D35 battery.
-I also decided to go back to a tmic.

Image

-Still have to remove the fmic piping but I think I'll do that once I sell it. Since putting on the tmic, I am much happier. Seems like I lost a little bit of power and torque, but its made up by no lag, so I'm happy. The Blitz bov sounds much better than the hks's I have been running too.

-Quite honestly, I have seen no difference in gas mileage from running the atmospheric hks bov compared to our stock recirculating bpv. On average, I'm getting 21-22 mpg.

-I should've updated this, but after about a week of running the tmic setup, I went back to my fmic. There was such a noticeable difference in power between the two, thought I'd deal with the lag over the power loss.

^I do have an issue with this setup, but I 99% doubt its the hks bov, its more like, my engine doesn't create enough vacuum to pull the valve open all the time, especially under normal driving conditions, cause under wot, the valve blows off and sounds fine, I just have a vacuum issue somewhere. I know its not the valve that is the issue because every bov I have tried, it has the same sound... valve opens and closes too quickly then you hear turbo flutter out of the intake.

You need to adjust the blow off valve. Also, i don't think you're going to want it opening up so easily when you're just daily driving and normal shifting, I think in that situation flutter is ok.

If you think it's opening and closing too quickly, maybe it needs a lighter spring inside of it. If there's any type of adjustment on it, loosen it up some. If not, you may have to open it up and see if there are any washers behind the spring you can remove.

-Thanks for your advise.
-I pulled the intake manifold the other day, found out it was warped a little, by putting a straight edge against it with a feeler gauge.
Image

-After putting the car all back together, took it for a drive and seems better, pulls better, boost isn't breaking up, but didn't cure anything with the bov. Think I just need to get away from hks bov's.

Were you able to hear any boost hissing while you would get on it? Its interesting you had the warped surface. When I get on it in our 93 I can hear a hissing noise sometimes.

-I can take a video of what I hear all the time, but yes, you can hear the turbo spool. Pretty loud for a TD04. I don't know why the manifold is warped. I added some gasket stuff... fip, fibb or whatever the name of it is, to hopefully fill in the blanks. Toyota uses it a lot. But so far so good.

The hissing sound I'm talking about sounds more like it's coming from the driver's side of the car under the hood. at first i thought it may be a bad booster or the line to it was bad. there's no other vac lines there. I'm starting to think i should just replace the gaskets.

It's not the sound of it spooling, it's something completely different. Some day I'll look at it.

-I too thought it was maybe the brake booster going bad or the line to it. I replaced the line. Didn't make a difference. If the booster was going bad I'd think you would know it by pushing on the brakes.

My booster did end up going bad which is also why I swapped it.

The car would only have manual brakes the first time you pushed them on the first startup of the day. It was awkward so I just swapped the booster and problem solved.
