So Recently tryed to reinstall my gray tops into my tleg with an epic fail due two being bad. So here is my delema I have non turbo injectors that have been modded to flow 595cc, will these injectors fit into my ej20g rails??? I tryed to fit them into the rails but I think I need the n/a cover caps. Any one have any tips??

Negative. I tried fitting 520 yellowtop STI injectors in my Ej20G which are the same size as NA red tops and it was a no go by a long shot. Looks like it fits from the top but if you remove the rails and look at the holes in the bottoms where the injectors stick out you can see a huge gap that will leak fuel EVERYWHERE. You need to buy an injector adapter kit that allows the use of phase 2 sidefeeds in phase 1 rails.

I bought this kit from Carl Davey over in the UK and it came pretty quick considering the distance. I've ordered from him twice and he makes excellent quality parts. This kit worked perfectly.

Why don't you just get some Phase 1 DOHC fuel rails at the salvage yard? Way cheaper than the adapter kits out there.

Because the 20g manifold has different mounts for the fuel rails, I cant just go to a salvage yard an do that. I wish it was that easy.

Different mounts? Have you actually tried Phase 1 DOHC rails? They should bolt right on.

Yep, this is correct. Any of the EJ25D rails will bolt up to the G motor and accept the STi yellow or the red injectors. In fact, that's where the red injectors came from in the first place. As mentioned you are looking for the early 2.5 DOHC motors from the 95-97? outback, maybe a LegacyGT of that same erra and the '98 Impreza RS.

If you can't find any around, I may a set to sell in the not too distant future.


I would still recommend the adapters. Switching rails is a lot more of a PITA than simply swapping injectors.

It depends which EJ20G you have. On mine the rails are not detachable from the fuel line. I tried that and didn't realize this until I had the manifold off and the fuel lines and rails removed and then I was like, "WTF!!". I had to put it all back together and then order the adapter kit. So before you go that route take a good hard look at your rails and see if they detach from BOTH sides. On mine the fuel line is one piece with the rail. You cannot unbolt the rail from the fuel line.

Yeah luckily my ej20g is an early legacy rs with detachable rails.

That's awesome then. I have the NA legacy rails if you need them. I'll sell them both to your for $20 shipped. No fuel lines because I don't feel like shipping a large box.

Make sure the ones you get are from the DOHC. SOCH won't work. Have Kimo measure the distance from hole to hole on the rail mounting. Where the two 12mm bolts go into the manifold.

The ones I have are SOHC. I didn't know there was a difference.

JUst to clarify....

If your EJ20G is from an early Legacy or WRX Impreza WITH the 90 degree turbo inlet then the USDM EJ25D DOHC rails will fit.

If your EJ20G is the EJ20K look-alike motor with the under-the-manifold turbo inlet then you need the adapter collars.

Yeah mine was an early ej20g from an auto legacy rs with a vf10
So I'm looking for a ej25d rail
