Mike, did you ever get the rear ride height level? I just installed lowering springs on stock perches and my car looks like yours in the picture above on this page.

So I have a theory. While technically the 90-91 rear perches fit a 92-94 (with appropriate springs of course!), the strut tower holes are physically lower in a postface.

So, I believe if you have a 92-94, you need to use 92-94 rear perches/tophats/etc along with the appropriate springs to get an "even" ride height. This seems to be confirmed by several posts.

I have all the parts I need, just no time. Haven't had a weekend home in a while. :(

Sooner rather than later. The car pisses me off every time I look at it. Sold my last ej20g engine, but have a stock ej22t I got from car that "ran when parked" lol.

I have so many parts to go on, it's not even funny! Got a few rarer things I haven't revealed just yet. ;)

Mike,

So you're saying the chassis mounting point for the strut tops are lower on the post-face compared to the pre-face?

That'd be an interesting and another random thing different between the pre & post face lift cars :)

In my opinion the MapDCCD is the best controller hands down. When or if I end up doing a 6-speed swap it's what I will be using.

To my knowledge Mike doesn't have a controller yet (he didn't last time we spoke about it).

Im going back to the stock transmission in the SS. No controller yet, i think I'll go with the one Alphius suggested.

This car is next in line to have a ton of work done to it, after i swap trannies in my outback.

Is the plan to put the 5-speed DCCD trans in with the EJ207 in your RS?

I'd like to, but that tranny has a slight grind going between 4th to 5th and back, unless I shift deliberately and a little slowly.

I was thinking maybe putting the dccd and tail section into my FXT tranny that's currently in the RS. Both are phase 2 but the FXT shifts like a dream, even on cheap gear oil.

If you feel like you don't really need DCCD I'll buy that broken transmission off you for a significant discount. ;)

Never got the ride height correct in the rear. I was reading online about GD suspension in a GC, and there's mention of the ass end being an inch higher if you use 02-03 perches/tophats.

So I swapped over to my old 2nd gen Legacy's Bilsteins with GC rear top hats. Suspension hasn't settled yet but it doesn't look ridiculous in the rear any more.

I've also slowly been stripping the ugly RS 6-spokes seen a page or two back. I'm going to attempt to paint them the STI BBS gold. Not sure what wheels this car will end up with, but it'll have those for now.

Naw thats too much money, it's like 3-4x as expensive as duplicolor. Happily there is a set of BBS's in the garage so I can judge how close I am.

I mostly completed assembling the engine on a stand. All that's left is the main PCV, and figuring what to do with the coolant tank. The stock tank fits great with a slanty if you grind off the driver side bracket (on the tmic!). I want to go back to my 06-07 tmic since I'll be running the td05 again. I'll be running AC this time around so I can't run a metal coolant tank there as I did before.

Pulled the SS into the garage and pulled the tranny and rear diff last night. Engine bay is getting pressure washed before tranny and engine goes back in.

One old greasy ej22t from a 94SS. Broke a t-belt so I got it for a deal ;)

Image
After ~20 minutes of pressure washing. I took cleaned it a bit more after this pic and got everything else not baked on. Turns out the heads have had some work done, and weren't all yellowed and stained like the block. Hope that is a good thing.

Image
I installed a '91 oil cooler and a 10mm oil pump since it was swapped with a 9mm at some point? Resealed and regasketed literally everything! Even new gaskets in exhaust. All heat sheilds installed, I suppose that helps with the TMIC.

Image
I'm gonna go with the TD05 on this one.

Image
Wish I took a before pic. Grease literally covering everything! This is a 91SS tranny, and I'm gonna running it with the 91 VLSD rear. (Already installed both tonite)

Image
FXT's to start. They aren't the most flashy wheels, but with how many straight lines and angles, they match the car IMO.

Favorite purchase for this build? Easily my electric pressure washer!

$99 in store, and if you let the degreaser soak for a while, this will clean anything! Works awesome for washing cars too.

Also since the new 22t is from a 94, it has an R134 ac compressor. I scored a free r134 condenser at WCSS last year. I have a sneaking suspicion that running r134 in a compressor and condenser designed for it works a lot better than using the same in an r12 (aka 90-93) based Legacy.
