Yeah dude! Isn't that crazy? Most of the stuff is still available from Subaru, and pretty reasonably priced. It was $70 per door. There are a few pieces that are discontinued that I need still, so I'm gonna be stuck refinishing those I guess.

This build is just getting more and more epic! Shout out if you are having trouble finding HRD parts. Don't ask me for manual shifter surrounds though, I'm fresh out.

Thanks man! Hmm, I'm trying to think what else I need that's rhd specific. Do you have a center console by chance? The plastic surround is different for manual and automatic

Re: Joe's 93 RHD Legacy Wagon Build
Finally got around to putting the manual pedals in today. It definitely is a pain in the ass to do without removing the steering column, but I think it would of been more of a pain in the ass to take it out.
Brake pedal and gas pedal are connected. Need to run the clutch cable tomorrow. Ignore the mess:

Well, it looks like I'm an idiot and have been sitting on a hydraulic clutch pedal for over a year and didn't even realize it was wrong until I installed it.
In dire need of a CABLE clutch pedal, RHD specific. Someone help please!

Joe, here's the pic you posted before. Which one did you install? Also, since you have the hydro pedal installed, you use that with US sourced hydro parts. I know you said you didn't want Hydro last time around, but the downtime would prob be a lot less this way. And, in my opinionated err.. opinion, the hydro is a much smoother pedal feel.

Re: Joe's 93 RHD Legacy Wagon Build
Hey thanks for reply! The photo you posted is what I installed. The RHD specific pedal set is different from the lhd version in that the gas & brake pedal share one bracket, and the clutch is by itself. After the urging of basically everyone I talked to I decided to switch over to hydro.
From what I've gathered I just need a usdm legacy master cylinder and a slave cylinder to match the tranny, which is from a 1996 Impreza. I tried to find braided lines but wasn't sure what would fit

Pretty much any NA slave cylinder will work. The master can be off anything hydraulic, tho if you go turbo down the line, it would be better to get a GD wrx one since the reservoir is low and offset to clear an intercooler. I used the NA hydraulic line since it is longer.

Center console back in, pedals in. Need to clean the shit out of the interior still:
I have some interior dye to freshen up the window switch panel and the door handle surround. As well as some other small pieces.

Hey Joe, I'm not familiar with the master cylinder you posted. Plus it's missing the rod that goes through the firewall, connecting to the pedal.
Here's the style I meant:

Re: Joe's 93 RHD Legacy Wagon Build
I've never used an aftermarket line with this setup, but it matches what works for oem pieces. Should be good. None of those parts show banjo bolts and copper crush washers, so you'll need those too.

Re: Joe's 93 RHD Legacy Wagon Build
Since I am going with a hydraulic clutch setup now I figure I may as well go all out. I am seriously considering purchasing a Chase Bays brake booster eliminator to get rid of that huge unsightly brake booster. I had always heard some negative feedback when I've mentioned this in the past, but I've been doing some research and it seems like this setup works really well, even for race cars.
Thoughts?

Re: Joe's 93 RHD Legacy Wagon Build
Started to remove the OEM crossmember so I can replace it with the turbo WRX one I purchased. It looks like the control arms mount differently, and I suppose this means I will need WRX control arms, correct?

Also, going to spray inside the wells with rubberized black coating before I put the new fender liners in:

Re: Joe's 93 RHD Legacy Wagon Build
What crossmember did you get? A GD WRX one, right? I have a GD STI one. Haven't fitted it to my car (the RS) but I heard of fitment problems with the control arms, so I went ahead and grabbed some from a 3rd gen legacy. Like I said I haven't fitted them yet, but it should work.
You absolutely don't want GD sedan control arms, those are all wide track, even the N/a's. A GG Wagon should work, and hopefully (since I already bought the parts) a 3rd gen legacy.

Re: Joe's 93 RHD Legacy Wagon Build
Regarding the brake booster eliminator, have you driven a car without assisted brakes? If not, imagine having to push down on the brakes with all your bodily strength every time you need to stop in a hurry. I'm not a fan . I swapped in an older impreza's single stage booster, and the pedal feel is more direct and takes more effort to slow down. Nothing like unassisted brakes though. IMO that should be only for race cars

Re: Joe's 93 RHD Legacy Wagon Build
It's a jdm gc8 wrx crossmember. Upon further inspection it looks like the control arms will mount up fine, they just mount slightly different. I will follow up tomorrow when I get the old crossmember off.mike-tracy wrote:What crossmember did you get? A GD WRX one, right? I have a GD STI one.
