ABS-2E Pump Runs at Launch - Normal?

Anyone have experience with their ABS-2E system pump running for about 1 second every time after a start and after getting the car rolling, maybe 5mph? Wondering if this is normal system behavior. Seems suspect to me as it tends to happen when reversing out of a parking stall. I've learned to anticipate it, but if I have to depress the brake pedal with the pump running, I get an unnecessary ABS stop in reverse.
