Twenty Years and More

I let a very significant anniversary slip by without mentioning it, so here goes.

Legacy Central BBS was started in October of 2002 when it seemed like there was need for a better alternative to the Yahoo! Groups list. That service did not last much longer, and with my experience using phpBB, it seemed like a good idea.

I've been happy to run this site for all of these years, but it could not have been done without the support of Josh, aka Legacy777. He was the person who suggested this and is the admin who approves every single new user. I would not still be supporting this forum if not for his passion for the cars you love. I really appreciate his support and attitude towards the BBS and it helps me care about the community more than I otherwise would.

Thank you Josh.

Also, to the moderators and superusers, and just to anyone who visits and lurks. You have been one of the best online communities I've ever experienced and I am happy to have been a part of it for parts of three decades now. I have many fond memories of these cars and I'm happy that the BBS contributes to the ongoing support of them.

The Legacy lives on.

I'm happy this community has lasted as long as it has and to echo Dave's comments above the BBS has been one of the best online communities I've been fortunate to be a part of. Despite the BBS not having the activity level it once did I'm happy that there is still interest in these cars and this site serves as a place for people to come and discuss them as well as search for all the things people have done over the years.

Here's to another twenty years

Today is my first time logging in in well over a year I think. Still have my Legacy’s but life has just gotten in the way.

Thank you both for keeping this going. If theres anything I can offer to help with, I’ll gladly do so.

Cheers to many more years of the legacycentral bbs! Hard to believe I’ve been here for nearly 15 of those years… the existence of this site is a godsend to everyone who loves these old Subies and I can’t thank y’all enough for keeping it up and running.

I thank both of you Dave and Josh, with out you I wouldn’t know half of the knowledge I’ve learned from this site, nor would have been able to help others with their legacies, I’ve met so many other enthusiasts nation wide because of this forum. This is THEE go to forum I have referred others to go to when looking for answers, and will continue too.
I’m happy to see it’s still going after so many years, even though our cars are getting older and harder to find it’s nice to still see a community still around when so many other forums have ceased or forgotten about.

Truley Thank you!

I joined this forum only a couple months after its formation - I made my introductory post December of 2002, so I have been a member here 20 years and some change myself.

My life is 100% different than it was when I joined; it's DEFINITELY a lot busier.

But even though automotive forums have passed the baton on to social media car groups now (which is not necessarily a step in the right direction, IMO)... this forum is still the only online automotive community that still feels like home to me, and I don't think that will ever change.

I hope it at least stays up forever, simply because of the encyclopedical levels of information presented here, even if it's not being contributed to like it used to be.

Thanks to Josh and Dave!
Extra ShoutOut to JC for all his assistance over the years. Thru the turbo swaps, 5-speed swaps, wiring (OMG I still hate wiring), etc. questions - Thank-you!

Just checked and I've been a member for 16 years in May. Wowza!

And yeah, FB is a poor substitute.

I want to echo the same feelings as above!

I bought my 1992 Sport Sedan in autumn of 2006 and joined Legacy central shortly after. I was in college, it was the first car I ever purchased and this was the first forum I really interacted with. I took a journey from having never turned a wrench to doing manual conversions and engine swaps in my garage. Wrenching on cars is still my primary hobby and therapy :)

I have moved on because I'm not someone that keeps a car forever. But 30 cars later I still often remember the time I spent in the car and on this forum, they both still feel like home.

I hate to pile on, but I have to give mad props to Josh.

I remember logging in every day and seeing that he had responded to every single post.

And when I broke down while driving cross country, he was there for me. Answering the phone and digging up wiring diagrams and offering advice.

There are so many other members that also made a huge impression on me and helped me along the way. I'm so glad I fell into this fraternity, it truly helped shape my life for the better.

Cheers,
Andrew
