Do Not Buy From...

Post by Slick1100 »

ASAP motors in Texas. I bought a "Japanese take out" motor that had "53k miles" on it from them. Got the engine 10 days after ordering it, and the oil pan was dented, timing cover bolt holes broken, and crankshaft damaged from pulley. Not to mention that the engine looked to be in general poor condition. I was then told I had to pay a 20% restocking fee when I return the engine!! Normally I don't post this kind of thing, but this company is certainly to be dealt with carefully, if at all.

I don't have a website or anything for them. Found out about them from Turbo magazine's (www.turbomagazine.com) listing of JDM suppliers. They had a motor for the cheapest price, with supposedly the lowest miles, and with a 6 month warranty.

As a mention.. So far - very good service from nippon-motors.com We had an issue with the motor sent to us, they responded very quickly with a replacement part.
Robert is good to deal with.

It was an EJ22. Ended up buying a motor from my shop and having them freshen it up with new gaskets and seals. When I get her home I can finally put the exhaust system on that I got almost a month ago.

They are most likely liars, when did japan get 2.2l in a legacy besides the 22b?

I thought many JDM BD/BG Legacies had the EJ22. That's not the case?

I don't think they have many EJ22's but I do know that quite a few of the EJ20t motors come from Europe and some of them are bad. We had one with a cracked block .I talked to someone in NZ and he said that some good EJ20 motors can be had but be careful when buying any high output motors as the good ones stay where they are.

Someone please correct me. From what I know ONLY the US got the 2.2 liter. If that is true, then its not possible to get a 2.2 liter japanese engine.

I think that the few EJ22's in Japan were exported from the US. kind of a switch isn't it?
