It's not the headers, though--the headers are fine. The headers each feed into separate downpipes w/ cats, which then feed into another cat before going to the rear of the system. It's those three catalytic converter-fused parts which are damaged.

Hey there all. SVX is having an exhaust leak that all the shops I've gone to want $1100 to fix. Just to replace the two downpipes and the midpipe! It's pretty ridiculous. For that, I'm pretty sure I could get a custom exhaust system with less catalytic converter installed.

Fortunately the trannies and wheel bearings are little things, like how if you replace the wheel bearings properly they last just fine, and how if you add an external filter and cooler to the transmission it lasts too... :P

Well, a little update...

There isn't really any noticeable change in driving characteristics while it's making this noise... the transmission always hesitates a little as it gets to 3k, but it's been there since as far as I can remember. Other than that it operates perfectly.
