Hi marsh27,
I'm in the far west suburbs (near Geneva), but would be interested (and appreciative) of your recommendations in the Chicagoland area!
Thanks!

Re: Need Help in Chicagoland with '94 FWD 4EAT Swap!
Thanks again, Josh, for the reply! (Admittedly, I haven't done this before, so I'm 'shooting in the dark.') What I meant to communicate is that the new, donor transmission came with its own torque converter 'that appears to be seated' - but I haven't checked (and need to figure out HOW to check). I ...

Re: Need Help in Chicagoland with '94 FWD 4EAT Swap!
Hi Josh! Thanks for checking back with me! I've done some preliminary research on finding a local garage with Subaru experience. Price estimates are ~$500-$600. I did get some advice and encouragement on USMB for attempting it myself! (Again, it is a FWD, which should be less difficult than AWD.) Th...

Need Help in Chicagoland with '94 FWD 4EAT Swap!
Hi, I need help in swapping a 4EAT FWD transmission in my '94 NA Legacy Wagon. Are you in/near Chicagoland, have the experience and tools/jacks, or can refer me to a 'nearby' garage Subaru-experienced (and capable) for this? (I found a replacement 4EAT FWD with 110K - the differential eventually wen...

Great! Please check it out and let me know.
What year is it from?
(I probably could also use beige rear cargo carpet. You wouldn't have that, as well, would you?!)
Thanks!

Re: Engine Replacement Options for a '96 LSI?
Hi Josh,
Thanks for the candid advice (and warnings)!
It appears that if I pursue this 'opportunity.' it would be best to consider newer engine options.
The 2.2 is from an AT.
Happy Holidays!

Engine Replacement Options for a '96 LSI?
Hi,
I'm looking at a '96 LSI that had the original, 2.5l removed.
How far back (old) of a 2.2 NA engine could I put into it? (I do have a '90 2.2 NA available.)
How difficult of a drop-in would this be? What challenges would I face?
Thanks!

WTB: Brake Power Booster for '90 Legacy NA FWD AT
Hi, Pushing down on the brake pedal of my '90 Legacy LS Wagon (NA, FWD, AT, non-ABS) is like driving an old truck. It seems to stop - but takes a lot of physical force, so I'm thinking my Brake Power Booster needs replacing, though any other ideas would be welcomed. What models/years Brake Power Boo...

Thanks, Josh. Any information from the Service Manual would be great! I'm wondering that if the bearing retainer's function is to apply pressure, and thereby control movement of the bearing, then the bearing must not be entirely fixed in place. (Giving me some hope!) The right side is loose when col...

Vibration. Play in Axle Stub-Diff.-Roller Bearing? Clutch?
Hi, Could excess play in the axle stub of my sedan (5-spd, FWD, 151K miles) be the cause for vibration/shaking that increases with speed - due to a worn differential roller bearing? (I can grab the axle stub and move it up and down when cold, but after running/heated, there is no play.) I've read po...

A/C Compressor??
Do you still have the compressor?
It looks like it is a model #V5-15C, correct?
Do you know how it worked before being disconnected - did it turn smoothly? Any clutch, bearing noise?
Please let know. Thanks!

WTB: One (1) Stock 14" x 5" Legacy Rim
Hi, I'd like to buy a stock steel 14 x 5 rim (plain old black, 11-hole) for my '93 Legacy, in good condition. (One of mine must be bent - giving me a slight shake/vibration that still lingers at 75-80 mph, even with new tires.) Chicagoland or nearby may be the most convenient due to shipping costs, ...
