Oh and the block I used I never found out the mileage on it and I'm pretty sure it was high. I'm not putting money into this block cause I can get another fairly cheap, but I'm thinking I might start out with new bearings next time

Not sure about details, but he wasn't running it hard. It did get ran decently hard for 50 miles though by myself...

Subaru cams should turn exactly once for every two turns of the crank. In fact every other engine I've timed was 2:1 although I've heard of 3:1 or otherwise.

Unless it's a main bearing, could the rod bearings be replaced without splitting the block?

so the other day i dropped the engine in my car and it was running great! very torquey and fun to drive :) well today one of my buddies took it for a spin and when he got back said it wasnt running right... i went out and tried to start it and it just shook and made a metallic sound. left it cool do...

Ok i called cometic and ordered the gaskets .040 thick. I'm hoping that is correct! If everything goes well i should have the engine pretty well finished next Saturday...

ok so i'm thinking about doing the ej25 shortblock with 22e heads build... been doing a ton of reading on this but i still have some questions. first, is the only thing that changes the shortblock? like everything else from the 22e would bolt back on. and maybe it doesnt matter, but which 2.5l engin...
