My props to the cool dad

Post by skid542 »

So the potential last snow of the season started last night, had a little fun in town after the town had gone to bed, but this morning there was a nice 6 inches of wet snow waiting for me. I went out for a hike near the creek out my usual road and was hoping for unplowed roads. I didn't get the nice powder along the asphault like I was hoping but instead got an inconsistent 0-2 inches of wet heavy slush. Well on the way back I passed a father in a 92 wagon dropping off two kids at his driveway. Or so it appeared. Well a tad down the road I look up in my rear view and there he is coming up on me.
I'm going along at around 40-45 and driving down the center of the road for the most part (that's where the only snow/slush) was and having a blast spraying stuff out and over the front. Well with another legacy behind me and seeming to like to go a little faster I started going faster. He kept right up with me to 55-60, at which point I felt driving in the inconsistent slush and all I was at my saftey margin limit. There were corners where the back would wiggle some and straights where going through the slush would cause need for corrective steering and the whole time he just kept right behind me. Albeit he wasn't driving through the slush like me, how often do I get the chance to use my wipers to clear slush..., but he was by no means slacking. Our little Subaru convoy kept along for the rest of the road and was a blast. Just had to share my jor of driving in the snow and driving with another classic Legacy.

BTW, I did go out and up the mt some where going through 7 inches of powder and leaving marks from the underbody plowing the snow was a blast too. Wish I'd had AWD but it was still fun.

heh, last time I went snowboarding I was having a little donut/drift session in the snowy parking lot, along with a couple pickups. nothing really out of the ordinary, but one of the drivers looked like he was at least 60. cool to see older people that like to have fun in their cars. 8)
