Key turns and........... nothing!

Post by khunsa »

well i took my car for a drive today at about 4pm and it started good (like normal) and came home, then at 8pm after a heap of rain, thunder and lightning, i was gonna go to the shop, and hoped in the car and when i turn the key, nothing happens, only all the engine check lights come on (power steering, abs, battery, ect) Wot could it be? Help would be greatly appreciated. Oh, the make/model : 89 rs legacy.

I posted this in drive train first but realized its got nothing to do with the drive train, so i thought it could be mechanical so i posted it in engine and also thought it could be electrical so i posted it in electrical. Do u know the answer or not?

Any clicking noises from the starter? Try tapping it with a hammer. Also, check the connections to the starter if you're not getting any noises at all from it.

Check your connection from the battery to the starter.

I used to have that same problem, but mine was caused by a VERY shoddily installed security system. I don't think my experience with this problem would apply.
