Intercooler temperature gauge

Intercooler temperature gauge
I was wondering what I could use for a temp. gauge for my AWIC. The IC has the sensor as part of the unit, and would like to see its coolant temp. I guess I could use a regular round face gauge, but I was thinking more along the lines of digital or LCD display.
Dose anyone one know of anything appropriate that I could use?

Do you want an accurate temperature reading, or just to kind of see where the temps are.
If you want an accurate number, you need to know the sensors calibration, and either get a gauge that is setup for that calibration, or that allows you to adjust the gauge's calibration.

Then you can probably just get an autometer temp gauge or similar, and wire it up with temp sensor. You may want to take the sensor out, and just make some measurements with different temperature water and a thermometer to determine the resistance at a certain temp.

Calibrating is the problem. The gauge and sender need to be matched or calibrated for one another.stipro wrote:^^^ I did not actually, tell me more..........
I thought if I could find a sufficient gauge, I could use the sender thats already on the intercooler.

It's easy as pie to run a J or K style thermocouple right under the hose connection at the throttlebody. This will give you a more accurate reading than anything else.
they sell thermocouple adaptors for use on digital volt meters pretty cheap.
FYI- I have a thermocouple installed into my intake and I see a max of about 182F at WOT on a non-intercooled 2.2. It's about 160F with the water/meth injection spraying. I have a 2 channel thermocouple monitor (Fluke 52 II) that will tell me how well my new water-to-air intercooler is working once I install it. (before and after the intercooler)
The cool thing about the Fluke is that you can monitor your intake and exhaust at the same time if you have a thermocouple in the exhaust too.
