Wagon had some horrible noise, loss of power and metal in the oil last night solo. Let's talk rebuild prices.
I got a quote from colorado componant rebuilders a couple months ago for a remanufactured ej22t motor for around 3gs. They use all genuine subaru parts and have a very high rating from people around denver.
What prices have anyone else got?

Re: engine rebuild
3k? thats a rip off, do it your self and save 2.5k for mods. if you are willing to learn that is. its really not that hard to rebuild one of these motors. plus its a really good experiance for understanding and salving future issues you may have with subaru motors!
happy motorin!
shoot if you live in oregon or washington ill rebuild it for you for a qurter what they want!

Re: engine rebuild
You'll spend at least $1,000 on parts doing it yourself using Subaru parts. These motors aren't super difficult to rebuild, however there are several steps that require special tools or for you to fabricate a tool to do the job. Plus the procedure to build them is a little different that your normal, non-subaru motor. So depending on your mechanicing knowledge, that should determine whether you'd want to tackle this yourself.
$3,000 is probably a little high. You can try looking around to see if there's any other options, but whoever does the work, should be very familar with rebuilding Subaru motors

Re: engine rebuild
Josh. What tools do I need to build to do this myself?
I'm pretty good mechanicly, I rebuilt my synchros in my 5spd. Never been in a motor aside from swapping heads on a civic si.
I feel confident I can handle most of it from stuff I've read also all the info here makes me feel good if I have an issue.

ok pulled her apart and found signs of a spun rear bearing. so I'm gonna tackle this project myself nad take the heads and low end into a machine shop. looking at doing the wiseco kit with the forged heads but can't find pricing.

Re: engine rebuild
EJ25D heads bolt to ej22T (and all wrx & STI) headers just fine.
