1990 AWD legacy Ls with ej22t swap.
Every time I let my foot off the pedal it feels like my Auto trans (AWD) goes out of gear and re-engages every time I press the pedal, is this normal, I read somewhere it's to increase fuel economy or something or other.
It also did'nt want to go into Drive in -5 degree weather, I feel like that's normal.
what I'm trying to say is, does this car I bought for $1200 and Just got on the road for the FIRST time have a royally fucked transmission or Torque converter, or is this normal Behavior.
EDIT: since this thing's swapped around so much I'm now assuming it's one of the later transmissions with the Torque Bind problems, is torque bind incredibly harmful or mostly an annoyance?
I'm somewhat scared since this is my DD now.

Hi Aaron,
Please allow a little bit of time for folks to reply.
Regarding the transmission not going into drive at colder temperatures. This is normal and by design to help the transmission warm up.
The feeling you describe when letting off the gas sounds normal. Can you give an example of the vehicle speed, where the rpms are when you have your foot on the accelerator, and where the rpms are when you let off the accelerator?
What you are describing does not sound like torque bind. Torque bind can be felt when making sharp turns and the car feels like it's lurching.
The symptoms you've described don't sound like anything I'd be seriously concerned about, but any additional information or description of the symptoms would be helpful.
